HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-15-1949 I I 215 MINUTES OF 'THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15. 1949 \ Present: Councilmen Bryan, Minor, Murray,Richbourg and Slone. Also Mayor Owens. Absent: None A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richbourg at 7:00 P.M. and the minutes of the last regular meeting held November 30,.1949 were read and a~proved. Councilman Bryan made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills: (a) From General Funds: Orwin Ostten, 26 hrs labor @ .60~ Charlie L. Pettis, 16! hrs labor Lloyd E. Smith, marshal salary to 12-15-49 and . 1a police cases @ $1.00 W. H. Wurst Clerk to 12-15-49 Bud Owens, ~ayors fee, 16 cases W. ,H. Wurst, Clerk's fees 16 cases Dees and Lee, gas and oil for street & fire Dept~ Ocoee Grill, meals for prisoners Reeves Welding Shop, welding mower Bowness Station, gas for street dept. Burgess press, printing letter heads Iserman & Co. pipe and unions water dept. Lester Harris, payment on judgment $375. and interest to 1-1-50 Finlesy's Municipal Supply Co. 6 water meters Cash paid out, garbage hauling FROM UTILITY TAX FUND: (b) State Bank of Apopka, apply on $2,000. note (c) From Interest & Sinkin~ Fund First National Bank, Chicago, Bond Coupon interest due 1-1-50 15.60 9.90 91.50 50.00 16.00 16.00 17.17 4.02 1.00 4.05 12.40 9.20 426.56 66.90 15.62 104.50 621.55 A motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds above mentioned was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. 'A large delegation of members and ministers of all churphes, and 'members representing the Womans Club was present with their prtitions to request the Council to recind their decision of the previous meeting to permit all those places to sell beer on Sundays. after a very lengthly discussion. Councilman Bryan made a motion to recind the motion made at last regular meeting to have all, beer dealers to close their business at 12:00 midnight Saturdays and remain-closed until 7:00 A.M. the followiJ Mondays, this motion was seconded by Cnuncilman Minor. Motion was put to a vote. Minor and Bryan voted AYE, Murray and Slone opposetlCuntil they hac further time to study the situation. Chairman Richbourg voted AYE to breal the tie, Councilman Murray and Slone then voted AYE in favor of the majority. Councilman Minor made a motion to cut the personal property assessments furnishe~ from County Tax Assessor Jim Burden office to 10% and changes tax bills accordingly. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon and carried. Councilman Bryan voted NO. Councilman Bryan made a motion that Clerk to certify all past due taxes from 1944 through 1948 to City Attorney for collection or foreclosure, this motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. There being no further business, Councilman Bryan made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. This motion was seconded by COuncilman Minor, voted and carried.
