MINUTES OF THE REGULAR T.IEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CrfY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 1950
Present: Councilmen Bryan, Minor, Murray, Richbourg and Slone
Also I-layor O\"1ens.
Absent: None
A quorum present.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richbourg at 7:00 P. ~I. and
the minutes of the last regular meeting held January 19, 1950 were read
and approved:
Councilman Murray made a motiqn to approve the payment of the following
bills:
(a) From General Fund:
Cash paid out, $8.15 prisoner meals $15. garbage hauling
M. C. Bryan, water dept.
Florida Telephone Co. bill to 1-10-50
Florida Telephone Corp. Power & LightB to 1-10-50
W. C. George, painting City Hall Bldg.
C. B. Ethrigge, gas & Oil-$2.65 st. $7.26 fire dept.
Richard Bodiford 7~ hrs labob @ .60i
J. N. JameA' 7~ hrs labor @ .6g~
Lloyd E. Smith, ,marshal salary to 2-1-50
w. H. Wurst, Clerk salary to 2-1-50
J. J. Vandergrift, repa1ir water pump & \vireing
Sam R. Scott, refund on 1949 personal property ~ax
Southern Pipe & Supply Co. water dept
W. H. Wurst Agency, Liability insurance on dump truck

A motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds above mentioned was seconded
by Cnuncilman Minor, voted and carried.
Councilman Murray made a motion to have a private telephone line put in,
this motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried.
Mr. M. E. Keath of Lake Alford explained to the Council about what the
water tank needed, which was some new steel braces and painting, the job
complete being $330.00. Councilman Binor made a motion to have this work
done, this motion was seconded by C uncilman Murray, Voted and carried.

Councilman Murray made a motion to get in touCD\rith a roofing man tor
price to re-roof City Hall building, this motion was seconded by C uncilman
Minor, voted and carried. / ~
After much of a heated discussion on the Mayor dismissing Lloyd E. Smith
~s Marshal, Councilman Murray made a motion to have Smith reinstated and
have him get all instructions from Mayor, Clerk and Chairman. This motion
died for lack of a second.
Councilman Bryan made a motion that the Council confirm the action of the
Mayor on dismissing Mr. Smith as ~Iarshal and the Mayor hire someone more
desireable and to be confirmed at the ne~t regular meeting. this motion
dies for lack of a second.
Councilman Slom made a motion to rehire Smith as marshal for two week~
trial and if he does not prove satisfactory that he is to come off
immediately. This motion was seconded by C uncilman Murray, upqn a vote
Councilmen ~1inor, Slone and Murray voted AfE, Councilman Bryan voted NO.
There being no further business. Councilman Slone made a motion that the
meeting be adjourned. This motion was seconded by C uncilman Murray, voted
and carried. Thereupon, the Council adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
