HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-20-1950 ,] I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD , THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 1950 231 Present: Councilmen Bryan, Minor, Murray, Richbourg and Slone. Absent: Mayor Owens. A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richbourg at 7:30 P.M. and the minutes of the last regular meeting held April 6, 1950 were read and approved. Councilman Murray made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills: (a) From General Funds: Roy Jones, street labor through 4-15-50 'w. H. \'lurst, Clerk salary to 4-15-50 J. N. Waters, 17 days marshal salary to 4-15-50 Florida Power Corp. power and lights to 4-11-50 Cash paid out, garbage hauling & street work Dees and Lee, gas and oil street dept. Winter Garden Hdwe Co. Street broom Layne-Atlantic Co. 5 gallons oil, water dept. State Bank of Apopka, tag transfer, 1946 Chev.truck Roy Jones, Street labor through 4-22-50 (b) From Utility Tax Fund: State Bank of Apopka, payment .on $2000. note (c) From Cigarette Tax Fund: Saine Co, Inc., payment on 6" water line 33.00 50.00 85.00 73.62 31.90 4.70 2.00 10.00 1.00 33.00 102.50 765.33 The motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds above mentioned was seconded by Couricilman Minor, voted and carried. Councilman Murray made a motion for Clerk to write Lmoyd Smith to tUrn in water money he collected, and give until Tuesday April 25th to do so, This motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. Councilman Murray made a motion to send W. H. Wurst to Gainesville to attend the Short Course for City Clerk's and Finance Officers for three days. motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. Councilman Murray made a motion to Amend Ordinance regulating the time for regular from the first and third Thirsday night to First and Third Friday nights at 8:00 P.M. motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. ' Councilman Murray made a motion for the City to buy the property East of J. L. Doss lots to be used as dmmping grounds. motion was seconded by Councilman Bryan, voted and carried. Councilman Murray made a motion to have a Police booth built on the SW cor of Lot 18, Blk 3, this being City property, to be built of concrete b~ock. motionswas seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. Councilman Murray made a motion to pay each fireman $2.00 for each fire and 50~ for each practice drill. each one must attend in order to collect the fees. motion was seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. Clerk read letter from Prendergast Fahey. & Co. 37 Wall Street, New York clated Apri+. l7tl1.' 1950,' offering $700. worth of Refunding Bonds dated J an. 1, 1949 and matureing Jan. 1, 1980 for $525.00 plus interest. Gouncil requested Clerk to advise them that we do not have an issued dated Jan.l, 1949, and if they had bonds dated January 1, 1945 to offer fifty cents. There being no further business, Councilman Bryan made a motion that meeting be adijourned. This motion was seconded by Councilman Hurray, and carried. Thereupon, the Council adjourned at 9:35 P.M.
