HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-08-1950 I I 263 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CIn:TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLOHIDA, HELD \^lEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8. 1950 Present: Councilmen Minor, Murray and Slohe. Absent: Couucilfflen' Bryan~and Richbourg _ Also ayor CJwells. A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Minor at 7: 30 P .:t-1. and the minutes of last regular meeting held October 17, 1950 were read and approved. Councilman Slone made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills, except that bill of ~1. C. Bryan $12.09 and the O. C. Wipper$269.88 (a) From General Fund: Richard Bodiford, street labor through 1028-50 J. M. Jame~, street labot through 10-28-50 State Bank of Apopka, payment on Chevrolet truck G. M. Stanley~_Marshal salary to 11-1'-50 W. H. Wurst, ~~erk salary to 11-1-50 Richard Bodiford street labor through 11-4-50 Cash paid out,$15. garnage hauling,$8.30 office supp. Winter Garden Hdwe Co. Street Dept. Leila J. Hill, County Tax Collector w. H. Wurst Agency, Clerk's Bond Florida Telephone Corp. bill to 1~10-50 Rodgers and Kirkland, attending Cnuncil meeting J. C. At this. time the Clerk read the results of the Regular City election held November 7, 1950 from the talley sheets signed by the Clerk and Inspectors of the polls, The results ar~ as follows: For Councilmen for the term of two years, M. C. Bryan 85 votes, Delma E. Fields 109 vQtesl C. R~ Freeman 97 votes, E. A. Murray 111 votes and Edwin H. Pounds 181 votes. H tot..al of 212 votes were cast out of 304 Qualified voters. which resulting the winners as Edwin H. Pounds, Eelma E. Fields and E. A. ~1urray. Councilman Murray made a motion to accept the poll holders count as read, and that the election be considered legal ana valid, This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. In the absence of the Mayor to swear in the new Councilmen, Councilman Murray made a motion to call Justice of the Peace Tucker to come and swear them in. The winning Councilmen took the oath as read by }1r. Tucker and signed their respective oaths. At this time Councilman Murray made a motion to appoint Councilman Minor as Chairman, motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. Councilman Fields made a motion to appoint COuncilman Pounds as Vmce- Chairman, motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. Councilman Pounds made a motion to appoint and retain W. H. Wurst a~ Clerk and Treasury, since there were" no oral or written applications for the job, motion was seconded by Councilman Murray, voted and carried. J . '" 264 Councilman Fields made a motion to beta in G. M~ Stanley as Marshal, Motion was seconded by Co~mcilman Pounds, voted and c;arried. Chairman Minor proceeded to appoint the various committees being, Murray as head of street and equipment department with Slone asslsting, Fields as head of water department. with Pounds assisting, Pounds as head of sanitary department with Slone assisting. There being no further business, Councilman Murray made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. This motion was seconded by Couhcilman Pounds, boted and carried.
