COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, ,FLORIDA, HELD
VlEDNESDAY, SEPTEIvlBER 9. 1953
Pre sent: Councilmen Iviaguirel, 1-'Tinor and' Pourods, Also Ivlayor Salisbury
Ah~ent: Councilmen Fields and Freeman. A quorum present.
The meeting was' called to order by Chairman Maguire at 8:15 P.M. for
the purpose of revising the City Registration book and: set the millage'
for the 1953 tax rolls.
After working up the estimated expenses for the coming year amounting ,
too as follows: ,Police Dept . $3,800. Street dept. $3.1100.; Clerk $1,,500.
Water Dept. $5,000.; Povrer and Lights' $1,600.; Fire uept. ,~1,200.;
Office Expense $800.; Legal Expense' $1,500.; Telephone' $125.; Insurance
$400.; City Hall Repairs' $392.00; Bond Interest $2 700.; "Taxes $150.;
Election Expense $45.001 Judgment Payments $810.; ~ond Retirements$4,OOO.
this making a total of ;;p27, 122' .00 .
Estimated Revenue as follows: 'Water collections $7,000.; Rents $480'.;
Fines and FOrfeitures $1~400.; Licenses $785.; Miscelaneous $200.;
Utility Tax $3,500. Cigarette Ta~ $5,700. Tax Collections' $8,057.14
In view of the' above figures it seemed necessary to to keep the millage
on homestead' property at 15 mills and 19.9 fOF' non-homesteadl. This motion
w~s made by Councilman Pounds and was seconded by Councilman Minor, vote~
and carried).
At this time' the city registration book was revised, and taking from it
22 names of those who have died or otherwise have disqualifiea themselves
of being able to vote in the regular City election to be held November J,"
1953'. COuncilaman Pounds made a motion to open registration book Sept.10,
and close Oct.~th, !llotion seconded by C"uncilman loTinor, voted and c'arried1
There being no further business, Councilman Pounds made' a motion, that the
meeting be adjourned1. This motion was sec-onded by Councilman ~
voted and carried'. Thereupon, the Council adjourned' at 9:45; P.l'-l.
