CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA
AFFIRMING SECTION 21-1 OF THE CITY'S CODE
OF ORDINANCES; REPEALING SECTION 21-2 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; AMENDING SECTION
21-18 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE
FOR THE PROHIBITION OF PARKING IN AREAS
WHERE EMERGENCY VEHICLES' THOROUGHFARE
WOULD BE IMPEDED; ESTABLISHING A NEW SCHED-
ULE OF FINES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS WITHIN
THE CITY OF OCOEE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABI-
LITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Ocoee City Board of Commissioners believes it
is most important to properly provide for the health, safety, and
general well being of the citizens of Ocoee, and
WHEREAS, the current vehicle parking situation in the City
does not always permit access to all of the citizens' homes by 4
Emergency vehicles/equipment, and
WHEREAS, a change in the City's policies are in the best
interests of the general well being of the citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
OCOEE, FLORIDA:

Section 2. Section 21-2 of the Ocoee Code of Ordinances is
hereby repealed, as there is no longer a municipal court system. ,
Section 3. Section 21-18 of the Ocoee Code of Ordinances is
hereby affirmed as it stands, with the following sub-paragraphs
being added to the current list already in effect:
(12) On both sides of a paved street that is less than 26
(twenty-six feet) in width, but more than 17' (seventeen feet) in
width. [For the purpose of this Ordinance, the width of the
paved street is interpreted to be the entire paved area, to
include ribbon curb, or Miami curb, if either exists.] The
City's Street Department is responsible for posting the appro-
priate "No parking" signs on one side of the street, as directed
by the Chief of Police, prior to this Ordinance being enforced by
the City's Police Department. Once installed, the removal of a
"No parking" sign by vandals, or any other means, will not be

grounds to escape citation for illegal parKing.
\13} On eitner side of a paved street that is ~ess than 17'
(seventeen feet) wide. The City's Street Department is
responsible for posting the appropriate "No parking" signs on
both sides of such a street, prior to enforcement of this
Ordinance by the Police Department. Once installed, the removal
of a "No parking" sign will not be grounds to escape citation.
(14) In a cul-de-sac that has a radius of less than
35' (tnirty-five feet).
Section 4. The new schedule of fines, delineated below, for
parking violations within the City of Ocoee is hereby adopted.
All parking violations within the City of Ocoee shall be fined in
the amount of $10.00, for each infraction, so long as said fine
is paid within 72 hours.
Fines that are paid after 72 hours, but prior to one week shall
be in the amount of $15.00.
Fines that are paid after one week of the citation being issued,
but less than two weeks shall be in the amount of $25.00.
Fines that have not been paid within two weeks of the issuance of
the citation will result in the owner of record of the vehicle
that was parked illegally being notified of the Citation, via
the u.s. Mail, by the County Court, lAW FSS.
All fines are to be paid at City Hall, to the City Clerk or one
of his/her deputies; lAW the City Charter.
Section 5. If any portion of this Ordinance is determined
to be Unconstitutional, or otherwise void, the remainder of this
Ordinance shall retain its effectiveness.
Section 6. In order to allow sufficient time for public
education, as well as posting of new signs, where appropriate,
this Ordinance shall take effect March 15, 1986.
