AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA
INCREASING THE RATES FOR WATER SERVICES;
ESTABLISHING BILLING PERIODS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR SUPERCESSION;
AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Ocoee Board of Commissioners is most interested in
providing the best possible services to the citizens of Ocoee at the lowest
possible cost; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners believes that in order to provide
water services to the citizens of Ocoee this delivery of water should be
self-sustaining such that tax dollars are not used to underwrite the cost of
providing water; and,
WHEREAS, the Ocoee Board of City Commissioners believes it will be better
for the citizens of Ocoee to be able to pay their water bills on a monthly
basis instead of quarterly;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. The Code of Ordinances of the City of Ocoee, Florida, are
hereby amended to read as follows:
The minimum charge for water usage shall be five dollars ($5.00)
per month, per metered unit (residential or business) for up to
the first five thousand (5,000) gallons.
For each additional one thousand (1,000) gallons, or part thereof,
of water used during the billing period the account will be char-
ged seventy five cents (75~).
The tap on fee for initiating water consumption at an address will
continue to be seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) per E.R.U..
The deposit fee to be paid to the City of Ocoee Water Department
to initiate services will continue to be fifty dollars ($50.00).
This deposit will continue to be held for one year and then re-
turned to the citizen/customer providing said account has not had
any delinquent payments.
The 'Over-65, program will continue unchanged. The current quarter-
ly allowance will be divided by three, and continued otherwise as
is.
SECTION 2. The billing periods for the Ocoee Water Department will chan-
ge from a quarterly billing to a monthly billing. Customers will continue to
have fifteen (15) days from the date of the water bill to make payment, there-
after, the water services to that address will be discontinued until such
time as payment is received by the City of Ocoee Water Department with an ad-
ditional ten dollars ($10.00) 'cut on' fee.
SECTION 3. If any portion of this Ordinance is determined to be void or
otherwise unconstitutional the remaining portions of this Ordinance shall re-
main in effect.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance and the rates adopted herein supersedes all
previous ordinances for water usage rates previously in effect within the
City of Ocoee, Florida; excluding Ordinance #804, that creates irrigation
meter capability.

SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective October 1, 1985.
