C,OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD
N,OVEMBER 3. 1955
Present: Councilmen Fields, Freeman, Minor, Holmes and Pounds.
Absent:
A quorum present
None
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Minor at 7 :00 P .~I.
The Clerk read the results of the Clerk and Inspector of the regular
City election held on November 1, 1955 to elect a Mayor and two
councilmen for a terms of two years. The total votes cast was 375
which reads as follows: For Mayor; M. C. Bryan 64 votes; John T. Minor
234 votes; .J., H. Schultz 69 votes. And for Councilmen~ Porter Fox
138 votes; C. R. "Cliff'" Freeman 260 votes; T. S. Haray 132 votes;
Sam Holland 180 votes; Leaving the highest number of votes for Mayor
John T. Minor, and the highest number of votes for Councilmen is C. R.
"Cliff" Freeman and Sapl Holland and is duly ele cted as Mayor and
Councilmen, Two write in voted for Mayor and four writen in votes for
Councilmen.
Councilman Pounds made a motion to accept the election board count of
votes cast as stated above, this motion was seconded by Councilman
Holmes, voted and carried.
At this time Justice of the Peace Tucker, District 31 Orange County,
Florida1 administered the Oath of Office to John T. Mlnor) newly ele cted
Mayor. And in turn Mayor Minor administered the Oath of uffice to
C., R. Cliff" Freeman a nd Sam Holland, as newly ele cted Councilmen.
Councilman Freeman made a motion to appoint Councilman Holmes as
Chairman, this motion was seconded by Councilman Pounds, voted and carried

Councilman Fields made a motion to appoint Sam Holland as Vice-Chairman,
this motion was seconded by Councilman Pounds, voted and carried.
Chairman Holmes appointed Freeman as Chairman of streets' dept with Holland
assisting; Fields on water dep~rtement, ~ounds assisting; Pounds on
health and sanitation with Freeman assisting; Holland on equipment with
Freeman assisting.
The appointment of the Police and Clerk was put off until next regular
meeting, to give all who wi:sh to make application for these jobs a
chance to do so.
The~e being no further business, Councilman Fields made a motion to
adjorn. This motion was seconded by Councilman Freeman, voted and
carried. Thereupon, the Council adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
