MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD
TUESDAY, JANUARY 7th.1958
A motion was made by 'Councilman Holland and seconded by Councilman
adjourn recessed meeting held Dec.17th.1957.

The meeting was called to order by Councilman Freeman at 8;00 P. M. and the
minutes of the recessed meeting held December 17th.1957 were read and appro-
ved.
A motion was made by Councilman Fields to pay all bills. Motion was seconded
by CouncIlman Marsden. Voted and carried.

Amotion was made by Councilman Fields to have W. H. Wurst Agency rewrite all
insurance policys to become due on January 10th. of each year. This motion
was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Voted and carried.
At this time Mr..Harold Maguire orally tendered his resignation as special
policeman. A Motion was made by Councilman Fieldsc",to accept, seconded by
Councilman Holland. Thereupon a vote was taken. Councilman Fields and Council-
man Holland voted for, and Councilman Pounds and Councilman Marsden against.
President of Council Freeman then voted against. Therefore Mr. Maguires
resignation was not accepted by Council.
Motion was made by Councilman Fields to increase salary of O. G. Smith by
$5.00 per week. Mr. Smith to wprk an additional four hours on saturday morn-
ings doing special work. This motion was seconded by Councilman Marsden.
Voted and carried.
A Motion was made by Councilman Fields to adopt Ordinance # 377, being an
ordinance of the City of Ocoee, Orange County, Florida, establishing a
Municipal Court, the jurisdiction thereof,providing for a Municipal Judge,
his power~ and duties, term of office and compensation. This motion was
seconded by Councilman Holland. Voted for by Councilmen Fields, Holland,~arsde]
Pounds and Freeman. Carried unanimously.

A Motion was made by Councilman.to appoint Attorney Ben Griffin as City Judge
effective immediately, This motion was seconded by Councilman Pounds. Compen-
sation to be three dollars for each case heard. Voted and carried. (over)

A Motion was made by Coun~ilman Fields that the City adopt Ordinance # 378,
being an ordinance of the City of Ocoee, Orange County, Florida, adopting,
by reference, all the pro~isio~s of ~he Florida Model traffic ordinance,
Chapter 186, Florida Statutes, 1957, for regulating the movement of all
vehicular, pedistrian and all other traffic, and establishing rules of the
road applicable within Municipalities and in conformity with the State
traffic regulation;Providing for adminstration and enforcement;prescribing
penalties ~or violation. This motion was seconded by Councilman Holland.
Voted for by Councilmen Fields, Holland, Pounds, Marsden and Freeman. Passed
unanimously.
There being no further business,
A motion was m?de by Councilman Holland to adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Marsden. Voted and carried. Tpereupon Council adjourned at 10;25 P. M.
