Motion was seconded by Councilman Holland. Voted and carried. There being no further business a motion was made by Councilman Holland to adjourn this meeting, Motion was seconded by Councilman Howell. Voted and carried,. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10: 05 P. M~ Z2~~~);~ I Cler, . ~~,,~~ E ident of Counci MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING CALLED FOR 12:00 NOON ON MARCH 6TH.1959 Present: Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Howell and Marsden.Mayor Broad- Absent; None away Motion was made'by Councilman Holland to despen~e with the services of Police Chief Wm. L. Knight~ with two weeks notice, effeoeive at once. Motion was sec~ onded by CouncilmanHowell. Voted and carried. A motion was made by Councilman Holland that Mr. Knight be given a letter of recommendation if he desires one. Motion seconded by Councilman Howell. Voted and carried. At this time Mr. Knight asked to resign at once from the Ocoee Police Dept. A motion was made by Councilman Howell to accept Mr. Knights resignation and pay him one weeks extra salary. Motion seconded by Councilman Marsden. Voted and carried. A Motion was made by Councilman Holland to recess. Motion seconded by Council- man Howell. March 9TH.1959 Present: Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Howell, Holland and Marsden. & Mayor Broadaway Absent: None The meeting was called to order by Councilman Freeman and the minutes of the previous meeting , held March 6th.1959 were read and approved. This meeting was called to discuss ,the dismissel of Police Chief Wm.L. Knight, and to discuss the statement given to the newspaper by Mayor Broadaway, that 6coee had ',been a gangster town until Mr. Knight cleaned it up. President of Council Freeman asked the Mayor to retract the above statement. He refused. He was then asked to resign by Counci~ man Freeman. This he also refused to do. Mr. Farnswort~ of the Sentinal Star was present at this meeting. After much.discussion the Council de- sided.that the dismisseland subsequent resignation by Mr. Knight should stand. There.being no further business, A motion was made by Councilman Howell to recess. Motion seconded by Councilman Holland. Voted and carried. Thereupon Council recessed at 10;15 P.M. I ~~-e~dlL tI Clerk MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING CALLED FOR ~P.M. MARCH 12TH. 1959 ~~~ Present: Councilmen Freeman Pounds, Howell, Holland and Marsden. Absent: None I Noticees were mailed to all property o'~ers of Lakeview Addition, Ocoee,to be present at this meeting to discuss the paving of Streets in the abbve area. The meeting was attended by a very large majority of the interested parties and the vote was tmanimous~to accept a bid of $1.00 per foot, this to be paid by the property owners at City Hall by April 12th. 1959. Work is to begin as soon as possible. A motion was made by Councilman Holland that Clerk write to Florida Power Corp. ~iving them authority to install street lights in Units 1 & 2, Peach Lake Manor. Motion wap seconded by Councilman Marsden. Voted and carried. A motion was made by Councilman Howell to increase the salary of Sam Oliver to $75.00 per week, effective at once. Motion seconded by Councilman Marsden. Voted and carried. There being no further business, a motion was made by Councilman Howell to adjourn. Motion seconded by Councilman Marsde~. Voted and carried.
