M I ~ = -< I I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CI T' COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD TUESDAY MAY 5th, 1959 11 Present: Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Marsden, & Howell. Absent: None The meeting VTaS called to order by Councilman Freeman at 8: 25 P.M. and the minutes of the last regular meeting held April 2lst, 1959 and the special meeting held April 29th, 1959 were read and approved. A motion was m&de by Councilman Holland that Council approve the payment of the following bills. Motion seconded by Councilman Marsden Voted and Carried. (a)FROM GENERAL FUND: Sam Oliver O. G. Motion seconded by Marsden. Voted and Carried. A Motion was made by Councilman Marsden that City Adopt Ordinance No. 391, being an ordinance of the City of Ocoee, Orange County, Florida, imposing a tax on each and every purchase of electricity, metered or bo~tled gas (natural, liquefied petroleum gas or manufactured), Water service, telephone service and telegraph service, within tr,e corporate limits of the City of Ocoeej providing for the collection thereof; providing for certain exemptions from said tax; and prescribing penalties for the violation of this ordinance. Motion seconded by Councilman Howell. e.,.,j Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Howell, and Marsden voted AYE No no's. Carried unanimously. ' Motion by Councilman Howell that City attorney Spencer C. Cross draw up a zoning ordinance governing the type of construction and nature of business in the incorporated limits of the City of Ocoee. Motion seconed by Councilman Holland and voted Dor by Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Hgwell, and Marsden. No no's. Carried unanimously. 12 There being no further business Motion was made by councilman Marsden to recess this meeting until May 6th, 1959 at 2:30 P.M. to consider arplication:for City Clerk. Seconded by Sam Holland Voted and Carried. Thereupon Council reeessed at 11:00P.M. Present: Councilmen; Freeman Howell, Holland, and Pounds (A9ua!om) Absent: Councilmen; Marsden ~eeting Wtis' called to discuss replacing Mrs. McCabe who ~dshes to resign as City Clerk. Several applications ,were considered and Miss Barbara Mills was selected. A motion was mnde by Councilman Howell to hire Miss Mills on one month trial basis at$175.00 per month _ Mrs Mc6abe to continue at present salary to teach Miss Mills, If Miss Mil],s proves satisfactory after one month she will assume duties of Clerk-Treas at $200.00 per month. Motion seconddd by eoundi~man~Pounds. Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Howell and Marsden voted AYE, No no's. Carried unanimously. Clerk ~-t#sb~.wt~ ~- eSJ.dent of Council I On May 5th, 1959 Mayor and Council were notified to attend a Special Meeting to be held May 13, 1959 at 9:00 A.M. to meet with prospective buyer of Della Grant Trailer Park ~o discuss zoning problems and"other requirements to be met if purchase is made. . . MINUTES OF SPECIAL J;TI~ETING HELD MAY 13th, 1959 Present: Councilmen: Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Marsden, & Howell Mayor Broadoway Absent: None Meeting was called to order by Councilman Freeman at 9:10 A.M. Motion was made by Holland that o~mer of Trailer Park be given from I June 1st, 1959 to June 1st, 1961 to clear out all existing undesireable and wooden bujdldings and comply with state, County, and City laws and regulations. Motion was seconded bv Councilman Howell, and Counci~men Freeman, Pounds, Holland, Howell, and :Marsden voted AYE, No no's. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Councllman Marsden made a motion to adjourn. Motion seconded by Councilman Pounds.
