Absent: None Meeting.was called to order by Councilman Freeman at 8:05 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held Sept. 1, 1959 were read and approved. . Councilman Marsden made a motion to adjourn the recessed meeting held Sept. 1, 1959. Councilman Holland seconded the motion. voted and carried. Motion was seconded by Council- man Marsden.~ Councilmen Pounds~ Holland, Howell, & Marsden voted AYE N~ no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds made a motion for the Clerk to open the 30 registeration books now. Motion was seconded by Councilman Howell. Coubcilmen Poundsl Holland, Howell, & Marsden voted AYE No no's. Carried unanimous y. A motion was made by Councilman M~rsden to amend Ordinance # 376 Section 2 to read as follows:' . To hold an elected public office in the City of Ocoee, Florida, -1 the person shall be twenty-one (21) years of age, A citizen of the United States, a permanent resident living in the state of Florida fo:c )for(9n~y{.lt) yearG~nd1'of the City of Ocoee for one (l) year. Motion was seconded by Copncilman Holland. Councilmen Pounds, Marsden Howell, & Holland voted AYE. No no's. Carried unanimously. . Councilman Pounds made a motion to amend Ordinance '150, Section 2 I to read as follws: All candidates for elections to office in the City Government of the City of Ocoee shall on or before 10 days prior to the date of election in which they expect to be a candidate file written notice with the City Clerk stating their intentions of seeking office and specifting the office. Should the last day upon which said:reg1s- trationjbe"'made~'.'fall 'on Sunday or other day upon which the Clerks office, is not open for business, tpen said person must register on the last regular business day more thanll0) ten days prior to the date of said ele ction. Motion~was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Councilmen'Pounds, Marsden, Howell, & Holland voted AYE No Noe's carried unanimously. Present: C9uncilmen Freeman Poundi, Holland, Marsden Absent: D~uncilman Howell A motion wap made by Councilman Hol1an~ to accept the following resolution: RES 0 L UTI 0 N At a regu~ar meeting of the City Council of the City of Ocoee,' Fla. held on th~ 19th, day of Sept., 1959 tpe following was ordered and spread upon ~he minutes: _ , "It is hereby ordered by the City Council of the City of Ocoee, of the State of Florida that the form of agreement li!tween the said City Council and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company dated June 17, 1959, by provisions of which the sa~d Railroad Compamy grants to the said City Counci,l the right or license of' construction. and maintaining a public road or street <e:rossing at grade acros.s the right of way and track or tracks of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad company at Russell Drive, Ocoee, Florida,'at a point 45 feet northeastwardly, measured I 31 I along the center line of the Railroad Company's main track, from mile post VB-834; as particularly described in said agreement and as more fully shown on the blue prin~ attached to and made a part of said agreement, be and the same is hereby approved. "Further that the Mayor and Clerk and Treasurer of said City of Ocoee, Florida are hereby authorized and directed to execure said agreement in the name and on behalf of said City". Motion was seconded by Councilman Pounds. Councilman Pounds, ,Marsden, and Holland voted AYE No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Holland made a motion that the Policemen should not wear their. uniforms when th~y were off duty. Motion was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Councilmen Marsden, Pound~, & Holland voted AYE. No no's. Carried unanimously. I A motion was made by Councilman Holland thatt.the Policeman are not to use their private cars in making an arrest unless it is a special assignment and on a special assighment the car should be marked. Motion was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Councilmen Marsden, Holland and Pounds voted AYE. No no's. Carried unanimously. A motion was made by Councilman Holland to put the money now in the Police Fund in the bank in the General Furtd. The motion was seconded by Councilman Pounds. Councilman Marsden, Pound" and Molland voted AYE. No no's. Carried unanimously. A motion was made by Councilman Marsden that all purchases for the City shall be accompained by a purchase order. No bills will be paid unless there is a purchase order issued. ~ption was seconded by Councilman Pounds. Councilman Pounds, Marsden & Holland voted AYE. No Ho's. Carried unanimously. 32 There being no further business Councilman Marsden made a motion to recess this meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilman Holland. Thereupon Council recessed at 1:10 P.M. At that time we had a discussion With Mr. Claude Locke of Florida Telephone Corporation from Ocala. Sam Holland made a motion that we raise Jesse Carnley $IO~OO per month, retraction to September I, 1959 for his outstanding police service to the City of Ocoee. Motion was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Councilmen Holland, Marsden, & Pounds, voted AYE. No no's. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Councilman Holland made a motion to recess this meeting. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Thereupon Council recessed at 11:00 P.M. Absent: None The meeting was calledtto order by Councilman Freeman at 8:20 P.M. to discuss tax increase$. Councilman Holland made a motion to leave W. H. Wurst assessment at $2,800.00 instead of '3,300.00. Motion was seconded by Councilman Marsden. Councilman Pounds, Marsden, Holland, & Howell voted AYE. No no's. Carried uBanimously. There being no further business Councilman Holland,made a motion to adjourn. Conncilman Marsden seconded the motion. Thereupon Council agjourned at 9:30 P.M.
