Councilman Marsden made a motion to recess this meeting until Wednesday. Councilman Freeman seconded the motion. Councilmen Marsdenand Freeman voted YES. No no's. Carried.unanimously. Thereupon Council recess at 8:05 P.M. W. Reid, 363, Councilman Group 4: John H. Earnhardt 138 and Edwin H. Pounds 362. Councilman Group 5 S. Alton Jones 160 Jack H. Marsden 334. Making the highest number for J. W. Reid, Councilman Group 3, Edwin H. Pounds Councilman Group 4 and Jack H. Marsden Councilman Group 5. Councilmen Reid, Pounds and Marsden are duly elected for Councilmen for the term of two (2) years. Councilman Marsden ,seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman and Marsden voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. I There being no further business Councilman Freeman made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 5:35 P.M. At this time ~~yor Howell administered the oath of office to the newly elected Councilmen, Jack H. Marsden, Edwin H. Pounds and J. W. Reid. Councilman Pounds made a motion to appoint Councilman Reid as temporary chairman to serve until a conncilman has been appointed in Councilmen Wilson's place.. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Pounds, Freeman and ~arsden voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Marsden made a motion to retain Barbara Mills as City Clerk and Treasurer. Councilman Freeman seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. I Councilman Mar.sden made a motion to retain Spencer C. Cross as City Attorney. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Marsden, Pounds and Freeman veted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. on Vayor's reccomendation Councilman ~arsden made a motion to retain J. Ben Griffin/as City Judge. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Council- men Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No nos'. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds made a motion to rehire all City employees of the Water, Street and Sanitation Departments temporary until a new councilman is appointed and present. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Pounds, Marsden and Freeman voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Freeman made a motion to accept the resignation of Councilman Boyd W. Wilson. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. I Councilman Freeman made a motion to give the Mayor permission to get applications for a new policeman to be reviewed at the next meeting. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Council- men Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Freeman made a motion to buy a new police car from Simpson Motors, Orlando, Fla. for $1,396.34. on the Mayor's recommendation. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds made a motion to put the Mayor in charge of getting a sign, "Ocoee Business District", at Minorville. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Freeman made a motion to rehire Ler9Y Turner and Ray Enfinger as policemen on the Mayor's recommendation. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Freeman made a motion to appoint James T. Vandergrift as Fire Chief. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimouslY. There being no further business Councilman Pounds made a motion to recess this meeting. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Thereupon Council recessed at 6:10 P.M. Attest: I~~ MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 13, 1962 Present: Councilmen: Freeman, Reid, Marsden, Pounds Mayor Howell Absent: Councilman: Wilson resigned Meeting was called to order by Mayor Howell at 7:00 P.M. Councilman Reid made a motion to appoint ~furvin L. Hazellief as Councilman in the resigned place of Boyd W. Wilson. Council- man Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Marsden, Pounds and Reid voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Freeman made a motion to appoint Councilman Reid Chairman of the Council. Councilman }Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Freeman, Pounds, Ma-r-s;denoo&::HazellieL;voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. I Councilman Marsden made a motion to hire William Robert vrhite as Policeman for 30 day trial basis, on the l~yor's recommen- dation. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Hazellief Marsden, Pounds, Freeman voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Chairman of Council then appointed the following as Chairman and vice-chairman of the various departments: Councilman Hazellief as Chairman of the Sanitation Department and Councilman Freeman vice chairman. Councilman Marsden as Chairman of the Water Department and Councilman Pounds Vice Chairman. Councilman Pounds as Chairman of the Street Department and Councilman Freeman as Vice Chairman.
