HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-19-1963 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD MARCH 19, 1963 Present: Councilmen: Marsden, Pounds, Holland, Hazellief and Reid Mayor, Howell Absent: None I The meeting was called ot order by Councilman Reid at $:00 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held March 5, 1963 were read and approved. Councilman Holland made a motion that Council approve the following bills. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilman ~ef made a motion to borrow $3,000.00 frmm the Bank of West Orange to loan to the Youth Center to finish the Youth Center. Councilman Marsden seconded the motion. Councilmen Ma rsden, Hazellief, Pounds and Holland voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds made a motion to buy 2 centrifu&al pumps from Hughes Supply, Inc., Orlando, ~la. for we~l ff2. Councilman Holland seconded the mot~on. Counc~lmen Pounds, Holland, Marsden, and Hazellief voted YES. No no's. carried unanimously. Councilman Holland made a motion to instruct the City attorpey Spencer C. Cross to draw ordinances to annex all roads coming into Ocoee, into the Ci~y Limits. Councilman ~~rsden sedonded the motion. Councilmen Holland, Marsden, Hazel]ef and Pounds voted YES. No no's/ Carried unanimously. . Councilman Hazellief made a motion to adopt the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida has heretofore enacted Chapter 26870, Florida Statures, the same being House Bill Numbered 300, Legislature of the State of Florida, 1951". WHEREAS, Section 98.091 of Chapter 98 of the Election Code of 1951 as revised establishes a permanent single registration for the registration of electors to qualify them to vote in all elections in the several counties including elections held in municipalities which elect to use the system, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ocoee elects to use said system, 1 NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Ocoee, Florida that the City of Ocoee elects to use the registration system as provided in the Election Code of 1951 as revised, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the' County Commissioners of Orange County, Florida with the request that they take such action as necessary to provide the registration system to include elections held in the eity of Ocoee, Florida to be effective after January 1, 1964. Carried unanimously Councilman Marsden made a motion for Conncilman Holland to 1 purchase a flag and stand for the City Hall and a flag and pole for outside the City Hall. Councilman Hazellief seconded the motion. Councilmen Hazell~ef, Holland, Marsden and Pounds voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Councilman Marsden made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Councilman Hazellief seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
