ORDINANCE NO. ,~83-
An ordinance of the City of Ocoee, Florida amending Ordinance
No. 499 and the National Electrical Code and all future
revisions. Provides for the exclusive use of copper wire for
electrical wirings. Specifically repeals Ordinance No. 517
and No. 518. Provides penalties for the violation thereof.

Be it ordained by the people of the City of Ocoee, Florida:
Section One: There is hereby adopted by the City of Ocoee as
an amendment to the National Electrical Code:
(a) All contractors, sub-contractors, corporations,
individuals and other enitities installing or re-
installing, electrical wiring, outlets and facilities
shall be required to use copper wire exclusively
for all services beyond the panel in the sizes
required by the National Electrical Code. The use
of aluminum wire of any size beyond the panel and
inside the walls is prohibited. The service entrance
conductor t~ the stack thru the meter to the oanel
may be aluminum in the sizes authorized by the
National Electrical Code.
Section Two: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
phrase or portion of this ordiance is for any reason held
invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent juris-

diction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct
and independent provision and such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions hereof.
Section Three: The penalties orovided for any violation of
this amendment or the National Electrical Code shall be as
follows:

Any person, firm or corooration violating any of the
orovisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an
amount not exceeding $500.00 or be imprisoned in the City or

County jail for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days or be
both so fined and imprisoned. Each day such violation is
committed or permitted to continue, shall constit~ea separate
offense and shall be punishable as such here under.
Section Four: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed and Ordinances No. 517
and No. 518 are hereby soecifically repealed.
Section Five: Copies of this ordinance shall be posted as
provided for by law and the Charter of the City of Ocoee.
~ection Six: This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its becoming a law.
