MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD
MAY 1$, 1965
Present: Councilwoman Hager; Councilmen; Pattarson, Pounds,
Mayor Howell Miller & Bracewell
Absent: None
The. me~ting was called to order by Councilman Pounds at 8:00 P.M.
The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and a correction
was made in the voing on a liquor license to A. B. C. Liquor
Stores, to read Conncilman Bracewell refrained from voting.
The bills were examined and discussed. The clerk was instructed
to call merchants and advise them that bills will not be paid in
the future without accompaning purchase order.

Jack Voss was present and spoke in behalf of Keith Flurry
pertaining to opening remaining right-of-way on Lee Street.
Spencer C. Cross, attorney, suggested that a check be made
to determine if this land is in the City limits. Mr. Voss
is to being the clerk the abstract of said land.
Mr. Tommy Ritten appeared in behalf of IV'dd-State Hauling Co.
Inc. concerning closing that part of Cumberland Avenue that '
borders the prpperty of Ndd-State Hauling Co., Inc.
Councilman Patterson made a motion to close the street according
to the Florida State Statues and City of Ocoee. Councilman Brace-
well seconded ,the motion. Councilmen:Polmrl~J Patterson, ~liller
and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Sue Brown of Litter-not Container Corporation showed and explained
the new litter cans. Spencer C. Cross and Councilman Edwin
Pounds purchased one litter can to be placed in Ocoee Shopping
Cneter with their respective advertising theron as a~:,trial for
ser~iceability.
Councilwoman Hager was present at this time.
Mayor Raymond Howell introduced Mr. Arnold Ray Webb and explained
his qua+ifications to fill the vacancy on the police force.
Councilman Miller made a motion to hire Mr. Webb to fill the
vacancy of Fred Daughtry. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion.
Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, Miller and Bracewell voted YES.
No NO'S. Carried unanimous~y.
Councilman Pounds reported bids on erecting a fence around the
Little League Restrooms & Storage room. The low bid was $467.30,
of West Orange Fence Co. Councilman lfdller made a motion to take
the money from the Recreation Fund to pay for the fence. Council-
man Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Bracewell, Miller and
Pounds and Patterson voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilman Paunds made a motion to pay Leroy Turner and Fred
Daughtry for 6 extra days and William R. Hager for 7 days worked
during November and December 1964 at a rate of $1.25 per hour and
that Fred Daughtry be paid 1 extra day for the last day he worked.
Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Councilmen Pounds, Patter-
son, Miller and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilman Miller made a motion to have Richard Bodiford take a
physical examination including an eye examination. Councilman
Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, !~ller
and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilwoman Hager discussed boating and swimming regulations for
Starke Lake. It was decided that" NO SWIMMING" signs be erected
in boat launch sections. Mayor Howell was to have the signs
printed. Drums are to be placed across swimming area.
The Council asked Leroy Turner to see that the Ocoee Police Re-
serve members fill out necessary forms to be bonded.
Councilwoman Hager discussed nplacing bad cross ties on Atlantic
Coast Line Railroad track. The clerk was instructed to write
the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in Sanford asking that this be
done. The need for cleaning railroad ditches was also discussed
but no action was taken.
The Council decided to discuss the annexation of the A. B. C~
Liquor Store property at the next meeting.
Conncilman Miller discussed the advantages of charging by the year
to mow vacant lots.
There being no further business Councilman Miller made a motion
to adjourn this meeting. Conncilman Patterson seconded the motion.
Thereupon Council adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
