HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-06-1965 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR lflEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JULY 6, 1965 Present: Councilwoman Hager; Councilmen: Pounds, Patterson Miller & Bracewell Absent: Mayor: Howell I The meeting was called to order by Councilman Pounds at 8:10 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held June 15, 1965 were read and approved. Councilman Miller made a motion that Council approve the following bills. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Roy Tanner and Dr. Scribner of the Orange County Health Departmentwere present to discuss with the Council about Orange County picking up stray dogs in Ocoee. The City Council adopted the Orange County Dog Law, which requires that all dogs must be properly innoculated and tagged with F an Orange County Dog License. All dogs not innoculated and lic- ensed within the City of Ocoee by August 1, 1965 will be picked up by the Orange County Animal Welfare Officer. Councilman Patterson made a motion to authorize Councilman Miller to begin work on the one (1) mile of streets to be built by Orange County Commissioner Clifford Freeman for the sum of $5,000.00. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Miller and Bracewell voted YES. No No's Carried unanimously. Councilman I'fdller made a motion to hire Billy O'Connor as life guard for Starke Lake for the surr~er, 6 days each weeks from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at $50.00 per week. Councilman Bracewell seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, ~liller and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. The Council decided not to renew any Policemen bonds when they expire this year. I Mr. Pat Broadaway asked the City Council to have a street light put at the corner of McKey Street and Bay Street. The Clerk was instructed to write Florida Power Corp. asking for a sur- vey for a l~ght at this location. Councilman Miller made a motion to pay the street men who worked overtime moving a tree out of the street $5.00 each. Council- man Patterson seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Miller and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilmen Patterson & Miller were to work out a solution for letting one of their men work on the garbage truck during Otis Hensley's vacation. Councilman Bracewell was to obtain bid prices on a new garbage truck. The Clerk was instructed to write the State Road Department asking they they do something about the ditch running by Anderson Electric as it is becoming unsanitary and health hazard. Councilman 1vliller made a motion to adopt Ordinance #460 being an ordinance of the City of Ocoee, Florida, annexing a certain tract of unincorporated land lying contiguous to the municipal boundaries of. the City of Ocoee and situated in Orange County , Florida to-wit: The SE~ of the SW~ of the SW~ of Section 20, Township22 South and Range 28 East. Councilman Patterson sec- onded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Miller and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. There being no. further business Councilman Miller made a motion ~p adjourn this meeting. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
