HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-27-1965 SS A letter was received from D~. A. H. Gleason, M. D. commending the heroic act of ~tr. William M. Peoples of the Ocoee Volunteer Fire Department for saving the life of Jimmy R. Russell at Starke Lake on July 4, 1965 by giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation at the time the child was brought outof Starke Lake. Councilman Miller made a motion to write Florida Power Corp. asking them to make a survey for street lights in the Security Mobile Home Trailor Park. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds made a motion to join the Greater Orlando Chamber I of Commerce for $10.00 and ask that our name be printed on their maps and brochures. Counci.lman Patterson seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds and Miller voted,lYES'.i,:No' NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Miller made a motion, on the Mayor's recommendation, to relieve John Horn of his duties on the Ocoee Police Depart- ment. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Pounds, Patterson and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Patterson made a motion, on the Mayor's recommendation, to pay John Horn 2 weeks salary. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds and Miller voted YES. No No'S. Carried unanimously. Leroy Turner was to contact the Maitland Police Department to find out what insurance company they used for thier liability insurance on their police department. The Council authorized the Mayor to obtain bids for a new police car. Councilman Pounds reported to the Council that the Little League building was being fixed where no water could go into the building I and sir vents were being put in where the uniforms could not mildew. Councilwoman Hager asked that the City clean the grass out of the baseline~~at the Little Le~gue Field. Councilman Miller was to have some/take the tractor up to the field to have this done. There being no further business Councilman Patterson made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:45 P.M. MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL 1v"lEETING F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JULY 27, 1965 Present: Councilwoman: Hager, Councilmen: Patterson, Pounds, Mayor: Howell and Miller Absent: Councilman: Bracewell The meeting was called to order by Councilman Hager at 7:10 P.M. The purpose of the meeting was to employ a new policeman. Councilman Pounds made a motion to hire Ralph Gary Lehman as a patrolman on the Ocoee Police Department on the Mayor's reco- mmendation to replace John Horn, on a 30 day~,tri:aL~basis and providing he pass a physical examination.. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Councilmen Pounds and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Councilman Pounds made a motion that Council adjourn this meeting. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
