MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLOiIDA HELD
JANUARY 11, 1966
Present: Councilwoman Hager:
Mayor Howell
Councilmen: Patterson, Pounds
and Miller
Absent:
Councilman Bracewell
The meeting was called to order byCouncilman Hager at 8:15 P.M.
The meeting was a continuation of the last regular meeting held
January 4, 1966 to discuss raises for the Street andSanitation
Departments.
The Council discussed job classification on the Street and San~ta-
tion Departments. Councilwoman Hager suggested that the jobs be
classified as truck drivers, heavy equipment operators and mechanic
in the Street Department and as truck driver and carriers in the
Sanitation Department. No action was taken.
A reccommendation was made that Grady Smith be put on the Street
Departm ent.
The Council discussed whether Sam Oliver was being paid extra
because he uses~,his own truck plus the upkeep of the truck and
paying the insurance.
Councilmaman Hager stated that records should be kept of the water
lines installations in the City Hall.
Councilwoman Hager reported that a map would be made by Florida
Power of the street lights on all City Streets.
A recommendation was made for George Harper and H. C. Wade to be
given a $5.00 per week raise and Bennie Oliver a $7.00 a week raise.
After discussing the raises for the Street and Sanitation Departments
Councilman Pounds made a motion to give George ,Harper, H. C. Wade and
Bennie Oliver of the Street Department a $5.00 a week raise, and on
the Sanitation Department: J. I. Jernigan, Otis Hensley and Roscoe
Rose a $3.00 a week raise. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion.
Councilmen Patterson, Miller and Pounds voted ~ES. No NO'S. Carried
unanimously.
The Council decided the men should be told by their department heads
that they WDuld be under closer supervision and if they did not im-
prove their work they would be"-replaced.
Councilman Pounds made a motion to make the raises retroactive to
November 1st, 1965. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Council-
man Pounds and Patterson voted YES. Councilman Miller refrained from
voting. Motion was carried.
There being no further business Councilman Pounds made a motion to
adjourn this meeting. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. There-
upon Council adjourned at 9:55 P.M.
