MINUTES OF THE REGULAR IvlEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD
FEBRUARY 15, 1966
Present: Councilwoman Hager, Councilmen: Pounds, Patterson,
Mayor Howell Miller & Bracewell
Absent: None

The meeting was called to order by Councilwoman Hager at 8:10 P.M.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held February 1, 1966 were
read and approved.
Mr. Pitt Varnes was present to ask the Council the name the road
from the Silver Star Road to Flewelling Avenue. Councilman Pounds
made a motion that this road be named Ocoee Hills Road. Councilman
Miller seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, Miller
and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.

Mr. Varnes also asked the Council/not to approve any more paats
from Brentwood when the lots were platted with the back of the
lots to the Ocoee Hills Road.
Harold Woodley , representing the Lions Club, asked help from the
City to have a beach pumped on Lake Moxie behind the You~h Center.
The City Council agreed to pay half the cost with a maximum of
$300.00 toward the beach.
Mr. Duboise and r~. Posey were present from the Church of Christ
asking permission from the Council to erect a canopy over the alley
behind the Church. Mr. Louis Robbe was to be contacted to see if
he had any objection and th~y were to be advised at the next meeting.
Councilman Pounds made a motion to pay all bills that are in order.
Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Voted and Carried.

Councilman Bracewell reported that he attended the Board of Connty
Commissioners meeting and presented our road preferences for this
year. No. 1 was Bluford Avenue from Minorville through~~ Ocoee
to Winter Garden and No. 2 was the new road from Highway 50 to
Bowness Service Station. He was informed by the County Commissioners
that they were to attend a Road Board Hearing and that they were going
to pursue getting some traffic lights for Ocoee.
Councilman Bracewell also reported that the sidewalk on McKey St.
was finished. He instructed the clerk to send Edwin Pounds a bill
for $17.00 fOD material and labor in putting a sidewalk in front
of I'f~s. Pounds house.

The I'f~yor, Raymond G. Howell, suggested that a sidewalk be built from
the end of the ,kmerican Legion building to the railroad. Councilman
Bracewell said it should not be built until the American Legion had
paved their parking lot.
The Chairman of the Council informed the Council that a letter had
been written to lf~. Bowers giving him 10 days to clean up around
the Ocoee T. V. Center. LeDoy Turner was to contact him and inform
him of the pena~ies if this was not done.
Councilman Patterson reported that the representative from the American I
Oil Company would be present at the next meeting.
~ouncilman Miller r~ported that the City of Wmrideremere wanted to buy
the tank off the fire truck. He was to contact them to see if they
would pay $100.00 for it.
The Clerk was instructed to write David Henry and ask him to be pre=
sent at the Bext meeting.
Councilman Patterson made a motion to write off ~~. Earl Murrays'
paving assessment as uncollectable due to an error. Councilman
1vliller seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, Miller and
Bracewell voted YES. No NO"S. Carried unanimmusly. This was done as
Mr. Murray said he was informed ~nere were no liens at the time of his
Councilman Bracewell made a motion that everyone would have to use
vaults and bronze markers in the newpart of the cemetery. Conncil-
man Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, Miller
and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilman Miller made a motion that the lots in the new part of the
cemetery would have to be sold for cash or thepperson would have to
sign a note that they would pay within 90 days. Councilman Patterson
seconded the motion. Councilmen Patteran, Pounds, Miller and Brace-
well voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Spencer C. Cross, City Attorney, did not report on the Sewer and
Gas systems for.Ocoee and on the zoning. He is to peport at the
next meeting.
1v1r. W. H. Wurst appraised the property belonging to I'f~. Lloyd
Roberson at Approximately $450.00. Councilman Patterson was to
contact ~r. Robertson to see what he would take for the property.
The City Council decided that the prisoners should work out their
bime in jail. If they escape that can be picked up with a warrant.
Each department head shculd contact the policeman on duty to release
the prisoner for work.

Councilman Bracewell asked the Council's permission to have inter-
section of Doreen Avenue and Lady Avenue paved. He was given per-
mission to use his own descretion.
The Clerk was instructed to write H. C. Wade, Mr. J. C. Sasser, and
~~. Pat Broadaway asking them to clean up thein~property.
Councilman Pounds was given permission to get bids for a new rescue
truck. The City if under no obligation to buy.

TheCity Conncil was invited to the Ocoee Little League Meeting to
be held Thursday night to see a film entitled "'Ehis is Little
League."
There being no further business Councilman Patterson made a motion
to recess this meeting until Tuesday, February 22, 1966 at 8:00 P.M.
Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Thereupon Council recessed
at 11:05 P.M.

MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE.., FLORIDA HELD
FEBRUARY 22, 1966
Present: Councilwoman Hager, Councilmen Pounds, Patterson,
Mayor Howell ~liller & Bracewell
Absent; None
The meeting was called to order by Councilwoman Hager at 8:10 P.M.
The purpose of the meeting was to revise the map of Ocoee to have
it reprinted.
The following changes were made in the street names:
Taylor street from Kissimmee, Avenue to Franklin Street was changed
to McKey Avenue and Franklin Street from Taylor Street to the WeST
City Limits was changed to McKey Avenue.
The west end of McKey Street from Kissimmee Avenue was changed to
Bay Street.
North Lee Street was changed to Smith Street.
The Conncil discussed having the maps prin~ed and selling them
to Ocoee business firms and individuals.
Councilman Paunds made a motion to pay court witnesses as same
as the County does. councilman Patterson seconded the motion.
Councilmen Pounds, Patterson, Miller and Bracewell voted YES.
No NO"S. Carried unanimously.
There being no further business Councilman Patterson made a motion
to adjourn this meeting. Councilman Miller seconded the motion.
Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:05 P.M.
