HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-01-1966 t I I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD MARCH 1, 1966 Present: Councilwoman Hager, Councilmen: Pounds, Patterson, Mayor: Howell Miller and Bracewell Absent: None The meeting was called to order by Councilman Hager at 8:00 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held Rebruary 15, 1966 and the special meeting held February 22, 1966 were read and approved. Councilman Miller made a motion that Council approve all the bills in order. Councilman Pourlds seconded the motion. Voted and carried. (A) FROM GENERAL FUND: U. S. Councilmen Bracewell, Mil~er and Patterson were appointed to meet with Mr. Maguire to determine difference between the side- walk and the brick. Mr. Cecil Hurst and Mr.. Frank Holmes were present to discuss with the Council the Orange County Electrical Code the City Council has voted to adopt. The Council agreed to hire Mr. Hurst to do our Electrical in- spection in the amount of $2.00 per inspection. I'f~. David Henry was present to discuss to the paving assessment against his property. He was asked to bring his aeed to determine the owners of this property at the time the street was paved. Leroy Turner asked the Council about having Spencer Cross, City t attorney, represent the City at the hearing of Donald Moore, March 14, 1966. The Council left the decision up to Mayor Raymond Howell and Leroy Turner. They recommend he represent the City. Mayor Howell presented the Police Summary for the month of February, 1966 sub~itted by Leroy Turner, Councilman Miller reported that the Spare wheel and the tool kit was not with the new garbage truck and that no payment would be made until this was taken car~ of. Councilman Patterson reported that the bid from American Oil Co. was 22.9~ per gallon, plus tax. The Clerk was find out how many plats we had within the City of Ocoee and inform City attorney so that he might found out the cost of the remaining ones. Councilwoman Hager asked if the Council had polled their 7mp- loyees to determine if they would be interested in group 1nsurance. They stated that most of the employees had their own insurance. The Council agreed to assess Mr. Hartle M. Bowness' property that had been taken into the City and instructed the Clerk to send bill. Councilwoman Hager discussed with the Council about notifying ~rr. Ralph Vaughn that his property was inside the City limits. City Attorney, Spencer C. Cross was to obtain a copy of the new annexation'ordinances from Tallahassee before notifying him. Spencer Cross was to contact 1v~. Ralph Floyd to determine the ownership of Lee Street that is adjacent to his property. Spencer Cross reported that he was going to Atlanta, Ga. to found out about obtaining money from the Federal Government for a gas and sewer system in Ocoee. Mayor Howell reported that a Mr. Starbira had Lily's in his nursery that he would give to the City. Councilman Bracewell was to go get them. Councilman Bracewell reported that Mr. George from Ocoee School said that the Orange County School board would participate in having a sidewalk put in front of the school and the football field. The Coat would be approximately $900.00. Councilman ~tiller made a motion that the City write the School Board that they would pay one-half the cost of the sidewalk. Council- man Pounds seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds, ~liller and Bracewell voted YES. NO NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Brace,~ll reported that the new sidewalk on McKey St. had been broken by the fire trucks. He was to take care of having it fixed. Councilman Miller made a motion to charge Fields Grocery $10.00 for garbage collection. Councilman Bracewell seconded the motion. Councilman Miller, Bracewell, Pounds and Patterson voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Patterson was given permission to have the tank and Well #1 fenced. I I I I I Councilman Patterson made a recommendation to put a concrete fence around the building started on Flewelling Avenue and move the City barn to this location. No decision was made. Councilman Patterson reported that y~. Loyd Robertson wanted $500.00 for the property on Maguire Road, and the City to bring the abstract up to date. Councilman Pounds made a motion that the City buy the property, and have it surveyed. The Council disaussed the employees causing troubled among themselves. They agreed the departmental heads should talk to the men concerning this matter. Councilman Miller made a motion to have the light behind the American Legion building installed and bill the American Legion for the cost. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Council- men Patterson, Pounds, Miller and Bracewell voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Councilman Pounds made a motion to adjourn this meeting.
