HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-21-1966 I I I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JUNE 21, 1966 Present: Councilwoman Hager; Councilmen: Patterson, Pounds, Mayor Howell Miller Absent: Councilman: Bracewell The meeting was called to order by Councilwoman Hager at ~:10 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held June 7, 1966 and the special meeting held June 14, 1966 were read and approved. Councilman Miller made a motion to pay all bills in order. He stated that Mr. & Mrs. Harold Woodley asked that he plant shrubs around the pen and they would have no mODe complaints. TheCouncil were to discuss whether or not he should lower his pen and let hiW know at a later date. Mr. Fritz of Michaels EngineBring Company discussed with the Council the best location for the elevated water tank. Mr. Fritz stated that our Well #1 site was better suited for the I tank than the new site oi Maguire Road. Councilman Pounds made a motion to hire Mr. Fritz and Mr. Groo to examine our water system for $300.00 to determine the best site for the tank. IF they erect the tank the $300.00 will be credited to the cost. Councilman Miller seconded the motion. Councilman Patterson, Pounds and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Miller made a motion to sell the used brick for five cents (5i) each. Councilman Pounds seconded the motion. Councilman Patterson, Pounds and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Councilman Pounds submitted bids for a new rescue truck rriom International Harvester Company for $5,715.00 and from Thrift- way Chevrolet for $5,752.00. No action was taken. Councilman Patterson reported that t~e auxiliary system was oompleted on our water system. Spencer C. Cross, City attorney, was to check into Housebill #503 to determine how it would effect our rescue truck. Councilman Pounds was to invite Mr. Smith, an administrator I from the West Orange Memorial Hospital to discuss with the Council the ambulance at 'the hospital. Councilwoman Hager asked the Council about a vacanton for Mrs. Mills, radio operator. Councilman Miller made a motion to give Her a vacation. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds and Miller vded YES. No NO'S. Carrried unanimously. Councilwoman Hager asked if sometHng could be done about people riding horses on sidewalks' and in peoples yards. It was suggested that the owners be asked not to ride on the sidewalks. Councilman Mi~ler~made a motion to write a letter to Congress- man Ed Gurney asking that all Ocoee City Limits be served by Ocoeemail service. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Councilmen Patterson, Pounds and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. The Council discussed ahd pecideg tliat all new building sho~ql be brought before the Council for approval before a permit is issued. There being no further business Councilman Miller made a motion I to ~ourn this meebing. Councilman Patterson seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:35 P.M.
