MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD
APRIL 18, 1967
Present: Councilwoman Hager, Councilmen: MarsdBn, Hamby, Reese & Miller
Mayor Howell

The meeting was called to order by Councilman Marsden at 7:15 P.M.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held April 4, 1967 were
read and approved.
Councilman Miller made a motion to pay all bills in order. Council-
man Reese seconded the motion. Voted and carried.

Mr. Harry Fisher was present to report to the Conncil about
four boys rescui:ng.'" a drowning woman from Starke Lake. Council-
man Miller made a motion to write the the Mayor where the boys
were from commending them for the heroic act they did and
write to Louis Robbe for administering first aid to the man
shot at the Shell Station on Highway 50. Councilman Hager
seconded the motion. Councilmen Miller, Hager, Hamby and
Reese voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilman Miller reported that the paving of Spring Street was
completed.
Councilman Reese reported that he had hired John Riggs to re-
place NOble Riner in the Sanitation Department.
Councilwoman Hager made a motion to purchase 4 mobile radio
units, 1 base station and 1 remote contraol with two-way fre-
quency for the Police and Fire Departments. Councilman Miller
seconded the motion. Councilmen Hager, Miller, Hamby and Reese
voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Councilwoman Hager reported that Mr. Byron Dorough was asking
$1,200.00 for the property on Kissimmee Avenue instead of
$1,000.00. Our attorney, Ben Griffin, was to contact Mr.
Hollowell and his attorney to expedite deed on this property
for the water tank.

Councilman Miller made a motion to borrow the money from the bank
for 3 years to pay for the radio~. Councilman Reese seconded the
motion. Coundilmen Miller, Hamby, Hager and Reese voted YES.
No NO!S. Carried unanimously.
Our City Attorney, Ben Griffin, reported that the American
Legion would have to pay taxes on the property that they have
rented.
Councilman Marsden reported that Florida Power Corporation would
furnish us power to the Cemetery. Permission was given to g~t
bids for a pump to install at the Cemetery.
Councilman Hamby reported that Marvin Sanders requested a light
to be installed on the right-of-way on his property. His request
was denied.
Councilwoman Hager reported that the Ocoee Little League
Association would like to have complete control of the Little
League field. The Little League Association was to draw up
some by-laws to present to the Council for approval.
Councilwoman Hager was given permission to obtain bids for 6-inch
pipe to be installed from Wrights Grocery to Security lRiler
Park.

Councilwoman Hager reported that Albrittons Service Station
would wash the police cars for $1.50 each. No action was taken.
Councilman Miller made a motion to hire Grady Smith to work
on all departments wherever needed and be under the supervision
of Councilman Miller at $87.50 per week. Councilman Reese
seconded the motion. Councilmen Miller, Reese, Hager and Hamby
voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
There being no further business Councilman Hamby made a motion
to adjourn this meeting. Councilman Hager seconded the motion.
Thereupon Council ~ounned at 9:30 P.M.
