HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-06-1967 I I I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JUNE 6, 1967 PRESENT: Councilwoman Hager, Councilmen Marsden, Hamby, Reese, Miller and Mayor Howell. ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Councilman Marsden at 7:25 P.M. The minutes of last regular meetjng held May 16th were read and approved. Councilman Hager motioned to pay all bills in order. Councilman Hamby seconded. Motion voted and carried. (A) From General Fund: Samuel Passero Ocoee Little League J. I. After I due consideration, the Council still denied license for same. Councilman Reese informed the Council that George King had not complied with the city building code and had gotten a building permit under perpetration. Permit was for new roof un existing carporte, whereas: A c0~plete carporte was built and infringement o~ city street right of way was ignored. The permit was reclaimed and voided. Money for same being refunded to contractor. Atty. Hamlin sitting in for J. B. Griffin, city attorney suggested a warrant be issued for George King to tear down said structure and pay a fine of $500.00. . 85.00 81.44 .85 .94 4.87 5.62 1.16 5.39 8.00 12.95 954.26 Councilman Hager suggested that cards be printed to inform residents 2 or 3 days in advance when necessary that water be cut off for an unusual length of time. This was approved by the entire council. Council Miller motioned that a letter be written to James Meeks to clean up proper~y. Councilman Reese seconded motion. No no;s motion carried. Councilman Miller made motion to have Health Dept, Fire ~, Building & Electrical Inspectors to inspect and oondem~ Qr request owners to repair all building in city not meeting ci tY;C~(res. Councilman Hamby seconded motion. No no's, Motion carried. Attorney Hamlin, 'sitting in for J. B. Griffin, City Attorney~ to draft ordinance for insects, fowls, animals etc., declared public nusiance in city. Also, Attorney Hamlin suggested the city take out membership to Florida League of Municipalities. Councilwoman Hager motioned city to buy 50 tickets at ~1.00 per ticket for Sheriff's Boys Ranch Day July 22, 1967, to help under- priviliged children in this area and that this be paid out ofre- creation fund, payable to Ocoee Little League. Councilman Hamby seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. I Councilman Marsden brought up pay schedule for Barbara Hooks as Assistant City Clerk. Councilman Miller made~otion to pay $1.50 per hour. Councilman Reese Seconded motion. No no's motion carried. l\Tayor Howell read letter from Chief of Police Leroy Turner wherein he requested Policeman Samuel Passero be relieved of his duties as officer. The issue being: Action un-becoming to a public servant of the people and excessive use of profanity. Mayor Howell requested Samuel Passero be called in, to answer above charges. After due consideration from the Council, Chief of Police and ~1r. Passerof Mayor Howell recommended that the council, in view of the situation as he sees it, to relieve Mr. Passero of his duties as policeman with two weeks pay. Recommendation carried by council. There being no further business Councilman Hager motioned meeting adjourn. Councilman Miller seconded motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 10:10 P. M.
