HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-13-1967 I I I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JULY 1), 1967 PRESENT: Councilwoman Hager, Councilman Marsden, Hamby, Reese and Mayor Howell. ABSENT: Councilman Miller. The meeting was called to order by Councilwoman Hager at 7:10 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held June 20th were read and approved. There were some questions on the bills to be paid. Councilwoman Hager suggested that a listing of all Equipment be made by number and that this list be given City Clerk, in order that each department be charged with their amount of expense. Telephone was guest of the Council and explained the new lead covered telephone lines to replace the ones now is use in Peach Lake Manor. Council agreed on this replacement. A letter or document showing that the City of Ocoee, Water Dept. would install a plastice water line to the Penacosta1 Church in Ocoee, was suggested, and that installation would begin on the line in?the immediate future. City Clerk is to get in touch with George King and request that he attend the next 60uncil Meeting July 18th at 7:00 P.M. in reference to consideration of legal action against his property on Taylor Street. Scotty Vandergrift made a report on plans for the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch Welcoming Committee, to be held July 22nd at the Ocoee Little League Park. The city ok'd payment of $50.00 for two signs to be used in welcoming the boys to the City of Ocoee. Councilwoman Hager discussed pay increases for Police Reserve and felt that since pay for Asst. Clerk was voted $1.50 per hour that the Reserve should receive the same amount, when working a regular 9 hr. shift for a regular policeman. Also, that the regular policemen when working on their(day off, should receive regular pay instead of the $1.25 per hour as now being paid. She also, suggested that they be paid double time on holidays, when the other city employees are being paid and not working. Also, that the late shift patrol be maned by two officers. No motion made. Councilman Reese suggested that the city go on record to contact each church, if they would like to place a sign on the new sign board to be erected at highway 50 and Minorville Road. City Clerk to write on contact the church officials. Councilwoman Hager reported she had talked with Walter Fritz of Michael Engineers and that he expected the foundation would be started on water tower in three or four weeks. Also, water line at Pine and Palm uould work successfully with blowout value at dead end. Mr, Fritz also stated he would send out work maps of the entire city in order that Mr. Oliver could show the water layout on same, and then would return this map to the engineering department and they would draw up maps according to S~ecific Engineering Code and return same to city. The approx. cost ~50.00 to ~60.00 not to exceed $100.00. Councilwoman Hager reported on the conversation with Mr. Haulback of Wall Plumbing and Heating in Sanford (Contractors for F. M. C.building) He stated ~is specks didnot call for water connection from the city nor did he bid on same with Geiger Jones. Geiger Jones confirmed this statement at an earlier date with Mr. Paul Swenk. Mr. Phillian of F. M. C. stated that they had a package contract with Geiger Jones and feels they have no responsibility to the city for the $600.00 water connection. All three companies were advised that the city would now turn this over to the City Attorney to determine who is respon- I sible for the payment of the $600.00. Councilwoman Hager will take this up with Attn. Hamlin July 15th. There being no further business Councilman Hamby motioned meeting adjourn. Councilman Reese seconded.
