Mr. McQuillen from Fla. Telephone was guest of the Council and explained
the new lead covered telephone lines to replace the ones now is use in
Peach Lake Manor. Council agreed on this replacement.
A letter or document showing that the City of Ocoee, Water Dept. would
install a plastice water line to the Penacosta1 Church in Ocoee, was
suggested, and that installation would begin on the line in?the
immediate future.
City Clerk is to get in touch with George King and request that he
attend the next 60uncil Meeting July 18th at 7:00 P.M. in reference
to consideration of legal action against his property on Taylor Street.
Scotty Vandergrift made a report on plans for the Florida Sheriff's
Boys Ranch Welcoming Committee, to be held July 22nd at the Ocoee Little
League Park. The city ok'd payment of $50.00 for two signs to be
used in welcoming the boys to the City of Ocoee.
Councilwoman Hager discussed pay increases for Police Reserve and
felt that since pay for Asst. Clerk was voted $1.50 per hour that
the Reserve should receive the same amount, when working a regular
9 hr. shift for a regular policeman. Also, that the regular
policemen when working on their(day off, should receive regular pay
instead of the $1.25 per hour as now being paid. She also, suggested
that they be paid double time on holidays, when the other city employees
are being paid and not working. Also, that the late shift patrol be
maned by two officers. No motion made.
Councilman Reese suggested that the city go on record to contact each
church, if they would like to place a sign on the new sign board to be
erected at highway 50 and Minorville Road. City Clerk to write on
contact the church officials.
Councilwoman Hager reported she had talked with Walter Fritz of
Michael Engineers and that he expected the foundation would be
started on water tower in three or four weeks. Also, water line at
Pine and Palm uould work successfully with blowout value at dead end.
Mr, Fritz also stated he would send out work maps of the entire city
in order that Mr. Oliver could show the water layout on same, and then
would return this map to the engineering department and they would
draw up maps according to S~ecific Engineering Code and return same
to city. The approx. cost ~50.00 to ~60.00 not to exceed $100.00.
Councilwoman Hager reported on the conversation with Mr. Haulback of
Wall Plumbing and Heating in Sanford (Contractors for F. M. C.building)
He stated ~is specks didnot call for water connection from the city nor
did he bid on same with Geiger Jones. Geiger Jones confirmed this
statement at an earlier date with Mr. Paul Swenk. Mr. Phillian of
F. M. C. stated that they had a package contract with Geiger Jones
and feels they have no responsibility to the city for the $600.00
water connection. All three companies were advised that the city would
now turn this over to the City Attorney to determine who is respon- I
sible for the payment of the $600.00. Councilwoman Hager will take
this up with Attn. Hamlin July 15th.
There being no further business Councilman Hamby motioned meeting
adjourn. Councilman Reese seconded. Thereupon Council adjourned
