MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, HELD
AUGUST 1st 1967
PRESENT:
Councilwoman Hager, Councilman Hamby, Reese, Marsden
and Mayor Howell.
Councilman Miller
ABSENT:
The meeting was called to order by Councilman Marsden at 7:10 P.M.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held July 18, 1967 were
read and approved with the exception of the items brought before
the Council from our City attorney. These items to be added to the
minutes.
Councilman Reese made a motion that the Council approve all bills
in order. Councilman Hamby seconded the motion. Voted and carried.

Councilman Reese made a motion to borrow the money from the Bank of West
Orange to pay for the new radios bought for the Police and Fire Departments.
Councilman Hamby seconded the motion. Councilmen Reese, Hamby and Hager
voted YES. No no's. Carried unanimously.
Commander Strine of the American Legion was present to ask permission
to have a recreation center for the young people with pool tables and
pinball machines. The Council was to give him an answer at the next
regular meeting.

on Taylor Street in Ocoee, since he purchased it and to clean up the
adjoining property. Councilwoman Hager seconded the motion. No no's
carried unanimously.
Scotty Vandergrift president of Little League was present to thank
the City Officials for the warm reception they gave the vistors
during Florida Boy's Ranch Day in Ocoee.
Councilman Reese made a motion to write Clifford Freeman and
thank him for the dirt he donated to the City for the Little
League field. Councilman Hager seconded the motion. No no's
Carried unanimously.
Councilman Hager reported that she had contacted our auditor
Mr. Charlie Wynn and he was to send a letter with some pre-
liminary changes to be done to bring our bookkeeping system up to
municipal standards.
Councilwoman Hager reported that she had a preliminary report while
they were reading water meters and stated that a number of meters
needed to be replaced, especially in the downtown area. She elaborated
on the value of the Badger Meters and stated that over a period of
years that we would have less upkeep and it would not take as long
to read the meters.

The City Council gave permission to the Ocoee JayGees to use
upstairs over the fire station for their meetings.
Councilman Reese made a motion to authorize the Assistant Clerk
to sign checks in the absence of the Clerk. Councilman Hamby
seconded motion. No no's motion carried unanimously.
Councilman Hamby was to contact Motorola concerning the service contract
on the new radios purchased from them.
Councilman Hamby was to obtain information on the approximate I
cost ot registration cards similar to the County system, instead
of the books we now use.
Councilman Hamby made a motion for the Mayor to issue a proclamation
designating August as Clean Up Month for Ocoee, to clean the City up
for the Labor Day activities. Councilman Reese seconded motion. No
no's motion carried unanimously.
Councilwoman Hager made a motion to write Jimmy Johns on Jay Street
and remind him of his agreement with the city to keep his dog pen
clean and plant shrubs around it to beautify it and to have only two
dogs in it. Councilman Hamby seconded the motion. No no's. Motion
carried unanimoualy.
The Council agreed that the Orange County Health Department should
submit a written report to the City when they make an investigation
in the City.
Councilman Reese ask that a letter be written to the Hotel & Restaurant
Commission to notify the city anytime they condemn a building, in order
that we may have a record and cooperate in anyway we can with them.
There being no further business Councilman Hamby made a motion to
adjourn this meeting. Councilman Reese seconded the motion.
Thereupon Council adjourned at 9. 5 P.M.
