MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA: HELD April 9th, 1968
PRESENT: Comm. Hager, Hamby, Reese, Vandergrift and Mayor Ninor.
ABSENT: None.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Yunor at 7:45 P. M. }unutes of last regular
meeting read and approved.
Comm. Hager motioned all bills in order be paid. Comm. Vandergrift seconded
motion. No No's.Motion carried.

~~. Folke with Orange Co. Health Dept. spoke to the Council in reference to the
vital need of sewerage ih our city. He stated disease can be carried in our surface
water from septic tanks. Comm. Hager asked if our wells could become contaminated.
~tr. Folks stated that ground saturation can get into the wells by faulty pump
euqipment and by opening in underground strata. He also stated the State Board
of Health's interest and recommendation will help in getting funds (by letter)
to the Federal Government. He will be one of the speakers at the meeting for
citizens April 23, 1968.
W. H. Wurst brought forms from Central Forms Committee, in New York, in reference
to riots, civil commotions and mob action in our cities. He stated he had not
studied the forms sufficiently to give a report on this. He said the water tower
insurance would be $11.00 per M for a total of $260.00 less l7~% or $214.00 per
year. Also, bond for City Clerk in the amount of $50.00 was due for renewal.
Corom. Hamby motioned we accept insurance on water tower and renew bond for clerk.
Comm. Vandergrift seconded wotion. No No's. Motion carried.
Junior Hager brought plans for addition to his home at a cost of $3000.00 Comm.
Reese motioned we accept the plans. Comm. Vandergrift seconded motion. No No's.
Hotion carroed.
Harold Maguire reported Tri-City Airport officials has been elected. He also
stated he had made arrangements to develop 350 lots bordering the city limits on
Wurst Road. He stated he would like to make this into ~ trailer sub-division park.
and would need city water and sewerage if available. Comm. Hager stated she was
opposed to a Trailer Park, offering to sell lots to individuals or renting trailer
spaces.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned we send our city attorney l{r. Hamlin to represent us
in opposing the re-zoning of committee meeting April 16th. Comm. Hager seconded

the motion. Cornrn. Hamby, Hager, Vandergrift and l'layor Minor voted yes. Comm.
Reese abstained from voting. Motion carried/
Corrm. Vandergrift motioned we give our attorney permission to settle the James
Edward Meadow case out of court, not to exceed $200.00 plus cost of court. C omm.
Hamby seconded. Comm. Vandergrift, Hamby and Mayor Minor voted yes. Comm. Hager
opposed the motion. Comm. Reese abstained from voting. Motion carried.
Mr. Pete }~lcolm came before the council concerning sewerage. Council stated a
letter was being mailed to all property owners the 15th of April, stating the
pro and con of City sewerage and that a meeting at the Ocoee High School Auditorium
April 23rd would be held for all property owners and electors to discuss this issue.
Comrn. Hager reported on NCR machine for City Hall. She talked with Mr. Beebee of NCR
Corporation.reguarding the cost for setting up machine for our system. }~. Wynn
city accountant suggested we wait until after income tax, before discussing the machine.
Comm. Hager reported on bids for flood lights. Raybro Electric Co. was low bidder.
Amount of bid $504.00.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned we buy the flood lights from Raybro Co. Comm. Hamby
seconded. No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Hager stated she had set a price of 25i per M for water requested by
Mr. Adis Jernigan. Sam Oliver to check on meter.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned if the Water Dept. found it feasible to put in water
line on Palm and Pine Streets;to start installation of same. Comm. Hamby seconded
motion. No No's. Motion carried.

Comm. Vandergrift reported on his conversation with Rep. from Orange Co. School
Maintenance. He said they offered their help in anyway they could, to assist our
getting sewerage. Comm. Hager to call them about the meeting being held April
23rd, 1968.
Comm. Hamby stated he had ordered 2000 ft water hose from Jacke Cocke & 60, for
the fired department at a cost of $1.44 per ft. other bids were $1.51 per ft. and
$95.00 per 50 ft.
Comm. Vandergrift reported one of his employees on the sanitation department had
quit and that he had hired Charles Pinkard. Pinkard has a record and was hired
on a temporary basis.
Cornm. Hager stated Pony League Baseball Club, playing in Pine Hills Pony League
needed $100.00 and ask city to donate this amount to be paid our of recreation fund.
Comm. Reese motioned we give the Pony League the $100.00. Comm. Hager seconded.
No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Hager motioned the city work with Ocoee Jaycees, for plans to complete
the present barn on Flewelling Dr. for the Youth Center. Comrn. Vandergrift
seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried.
~~. Turner president of Teen Council stated Mr. Robbe was to turn in his resignation
as Chairman of Teen Council in tow weeks.
Comm. H~ger stated r1r. Hassel Mobe's service on the water department will be
terminated April 13th.
Comm. Hamby motioned the city mark off two places for police cars, between Mrs
Pounds and Fire House on McKey Street. Comrn. Vandergrift seconded motion.
No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Hamby proposed that old type street lights be replaced with new type lights.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned Corrm. Reese contact Florida Power to replace all old
type lights with new type within the city limits. Comm. Hamby seconded. No No's
Motion carried.
Council requested letter be written to State Road Eepartment, to put miles
from and to Ocoee on state road signs. Also, to write Owen Underwood to remove
trash dumped in Starke Lake two weeks ago on the Underwood property.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned we replace wall in Youth Center with money from fine
paid by the offender. Comm. Hager seconded. No No's. Motion carried.
There being no further business. Comm. Hager motioned Council adjourn. Comm.
Reese seconded. Thereupon the council meeting adjourned at 11:10 P. M.
