Hamby, Reese, Vandergrift and Mayor Minor ABSENT: Comm. Hager Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:30 P. M. Minutes of last regular meeting read and approved~ Comm. Hamby all bills in order be paid. Comm. Vandergrift seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. ~,' ,/ Judd Wood a Red Cross Representative and Miss Carolyn Haight appeared before the Council requesting use of Starke Lake for swimming instructions. The Council ask Mr. Wood, what would be required of the city for this program. Mr. Wood stated that No. 1 Condition of water in lake be checked by Health Department. No 2 A life guard furnished by the city, this is not a necessity, but protection 'for the city and the children in case of an accident. No 3. That a swimming area be marked off and sign posted "Swimming lessons only between specified hours. No. 4 a guarantee that they could have this area of the lake. They proposed that the classes would begin July 1st and end July 10th. Children who have completed the first grade or reached their seventh birthday or older would be eligible to register for these classes. Classes will be held from 9:00 A. M. tm 12:00 noon, Monday through Friday. , '. General Fund: Grafton Inc. Vandergrift motioned' the City cooperate with American Red Cross in this program. Comm. Hamby seconded. No No's Motion carried. Mr. E. M. Henderson speaking in behalf of Bob Kerr, regarding a piece of property South of Jospph Kissel as fp110ws: Old Drigger property back of Overland Hauling 345 ft/ N & s, 163 ft . & W. This property to be purchased by Mr. Kerr for a Boat Mfg. Business. The building would be all metal and cover approx. 45,000 sq. ft. Mfg. of tools, stands etc. for working on beats and welding would be housed under this building. Council agreed to issue permit upon approval of blue prints for said building. Atty. Hamlin will bring resolution to annex roads and streets to next meeting. He will also check with county on obscene literature. Comm. Vandergrift stated the Jaycees made a motion to dedicate the divided portinn of state road 439 that they are beautifying~to the men in the Ocoee area that lost their lives in Viet Nam. The motion passed pending acceptance by the City Council and State Road Department. Comm. Vandergrift reported on retirement and insurance for city employeest. Will have more details later. Comm. Reese reported on compensation Insurance. Stated Mr. W. H. WUrst reported lowest in city history. A safety meeting for all city employees will be held I I I I at 7:00 A. M. May 29th at the city barn. Comm. Vandergrift ask Mayor Minor to write a Proclamation declaring August 4th, 1968 as Florida Sherrif Boy's Ranch Day in ocoee. Mayor Minor agreed to make such proclamation. Mayor Minor to contact Overland Hauling in regards to using city streets for their trucks and to ask them to honor the agreement made by Mid-State in regards to this. Comm. Vandergrift quoted prices on uniforms for Sanitation Department as follows: 3 sets uniforms per person @$2.55 per week. $40.00 per month for 4 men. Comm. Vandergrift motioned we try these uniforms for 2 months. Motion tabled for next meeting. Comm. Vandergrift stated he had meter for Little League and ask the city to pay for same. Council agreed. City Clerk to check Civil Defense for selling garbage truck and jeep. Mr. Betts the person to contact. There being no further business, Comm. Reese motioned Meeting adjourn. Coma. Hamby seconded. Hamby motioned to appoint Atty. Hamlin interim tax assessor, City of Oooee. Comm. Hager seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. There being no further business. Comm.
