Hager, Reese, Vandergrift, Hamby and Mayor Minor ABSENT: None. Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:15 P. M. Minutes of last regular meeting approved. Comm. Hamby suggested picnic tables for Starke Lake. Comm. Hager stated she was in favor of said tables if placed in picnic area. Comm. Hamby to check cost of tables and installation. Council agreed. Comm. Hamby reported Ray Wood had quit his job as dispatcher. Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city council sitting as an ad hoc zoning committee I approve Ramada Inn's license to sell liquor. Comm. Hager seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. ' Atty. Hamlin brought Ordinance #'1/1 being an ORDINANCE DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA TO ANNEX A CERTAIN TRACT OF UNINCORPORATED LAND LYING CONTIGOUS TO THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, AND SITUATED IN ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA. I I I Comm. Hager motioned we accept this ordinance. Comm. Reese seconded the motion. No No's'~ Motion carried. Atty. Hamlin read a letter from Overland Hauling, regarding the fence across Columbus. Overland Hauling stated they were aware of the fact that Columbus St. at C Cumberland Avenue had been fenced and they would remove same at their expense, when the city desired to open Columbus. St., Atty. Hamlin has written Ocoee Builders and Development Co., regarding payment due the city for street assessment at 621 Jay Street and owned by Mr. D. Henry. Comm. Hager motioned we write Jaycee's that they submit complete plans for Teen Council building by Sept. 1st or we will be responsible for securing said plans. Comm. Hamby seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Mr. Wm. Tomkins, owner of Tomkins Funeral Home, brought names for Committee Members to investigate ways to improve and care for City Cemetery, as follows: 1. Perpetual care 2. Vandalism 3. Regulations for setting stones 4. Collection of payments for cemetery property 5. Comnnmity work day 6. Inunedicate steps for cleaning up the cemetery. Comm. Vandergrift motioned we accept the Cemetery Committee, comprised of the following members: William A. Tomkins, Odis Reeves, Hartle Bowness and Roy Godbold. Comm. Hager seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hager stated Lee Mervin with Florida Power Corp. would have a new map of the city printed and the council could review same and agree on number needed. Comm. Hamby suggested the city put a condemned sign on the city dock at Starke Lake while same is being repaired. Council agreed. Comm. Hager ask the City attorney, Mike Hamlin, whether or not the city could go beyond the county assessment tax roll. Atty. Hamlin stated we could.. Atty. Hamlin to contact Spencer Cross in regards to bond retirement. City. Clerk to write Cliff Freeman thanking horn for the use of drag line to install water main under Gevena Street. Also, wrtie Mr. Phillians with F. M. C. Corp. letter of apology for having to turn their water off while installing above water main. Comm. Hager suggested that the Police and Fire Dept. have Honor Guard~ for Dominic Ungaro. Donnie lost his life in the Viet Nam war. Donnie was a Lt. in both the fire and police departments. Also, city to send flowers. Comm. Hamby motioned we donate two cemetery lots to Margaret Ungaro, Donnie's widow, should she desire to bury him in Ocoee. Comm. Hager seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hager stated Sam Oliver needed a radio for his truck. She ask Council for permission to investigate the possibility for portable or car radio. Council agreed. Comm. Vandergrift motioned that Yisitors to the council meetings be invited to speak first and to limit their request to 5 minutes. Comm. Hamby seconded. No No's carried. Frank Turner came before the council and gave a report for the July 4th Celebration. He express his appreciation to Anny ~le, West Orange Correspondent, for the nice write up in the Orlando Paper, regarding this celebration. He stated the fire works would cost $200.00 and ask that the city donate $100.00 of this amount. Also, the meridian on Bluford Avenue sponsored by the Jayvee's will be dedicated to the Viet Nam war dead on July 4th. Comm. Hager motioned the city give the Jaycees $100.00 for fire works and cha~ge to Recreation Fund.. Comm. Vandergrift seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hager motioned we give the Jaycees permission to have the 4th of July Celebration on Starke Lake. Comm. Hamby seconded. Comm. Hager amended her motion and ask I that the streets from Lakewood and Oakland to Lake Shore Drive. McKey and Lakewood - to Lake Shore Drive be closed for parking area. Comm. Hamby seconded amendment. No No's. Motion carried. W. H. Wurst reported that our Insurance with his agency will cover our policemen when on duty outside city limits. Comm. Vandergrift motioned Police Department, Mayor Minor and Fire Department continue Mutual Aid between the cities of Winter Garden, Windermere and Ocoee as to riot control. Comm. Hager seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Mayor Minor ask the council about retaining Sharon Lott as part time help in City Hall. Mrs. Lott ask for $2.00 and hour for 10 days per month or $1;75 per hour for 15days per month. Comm. "Hager stated that if Mrs. Lott needed to make a certain amount of monty per month, she could not see the variance in hourly pay as to the city's viewpoint. Also, that she thought Mrs. Lott should have informed Mayor Minor first, as to her taking another job. Comm. Hamby motioned we replace Sharon Lott with someone else for 10 days per month and that we put an ad in the West Orange Shopper for this job. Comm. Hager seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hager motioned we accept purchase plan from Pitney-Bowes for postage meter. Cost of same $440.00 on 3 month payment plat at $158.00 per month. Comm. Reese seconded motion. No No;s. Motion carried. Also, "Center of Good Living" was chosen for our ad on said meter. I There being no further business Comm. Hager motioned meeting adjourn. Comm. Reese seconded motion.
