Hager, Hamby, Heese, Vandergrift & Mayor Minor ABSENT: None. -I --- Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:12 P. M. Comm. Hamby motioned to disperse of reading minutes of last regular meeting. Comm. Reese seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hager motioned all bills in order be paid. Comm. Reese seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Mayor Minor recommended the city issue said license. , Comm. Hamby motioned the city issue V~. Miller occupational license on the recommend- ation by the Mayor to manfacture Irrigation Risers. Comm. Reese seconded the motion with the stipulation that the city issue a straight license. No No's Motion carried. The Board of Equalization for city ad valorum tax was turned over to City Atty. Hamlin to answer questions from tax payers. Atty. Hamlin explained the just value law passed by the State Legislature and stated the city had nothing to do with the full value tax law but to abide by same. Rusty Johnson president of Jaycees thanked the council and all departments of the, city.for their contributions to the second Annual Citrus Regatta. Mr. Johnson also ask if the city had any plans for a political rally for the qualified commissioners, running to fill the expired terms of Betty Hager, Nathan Reese and Carmon Hamby. He stated the Jaycees would like to co-sponsor this rally with the city. Comm., Vandergrift motioned the candidates qualification fee's be used for a chicken purleau supper and political rally for city of Ocoee election with no charge for supper. Jaycees to defray all other expense. Comm. Hager seconded the motion. Comm. Hager, Vandergrift voted yes. Comm. Reese and Hamby abstained. Motion carried. Gomm., Hager reported on maps for the city. She stated First Federal Saving & Loan Co., in vlinter Parko:'had made: the maps for Ivinter Garden. Comm. Hager to contact First Federil in reference to above and report on same at ,next council meeting Oct. 8th. r- Comm. Vandergrift reported the sanitation truck didnot pass the state safety examination. G~mm., Reese reported the paving of 4 streets was in the process of being completed. Comm.. Hager reported Mrs. Brassieur owner of Laundry-y~t on Wurst Road had complained about her water bill and wanted, an adjustment. She ask the council's opinion. The council stated in as much as this was Gomm. Hagers department, she should make the recommendation. Comm.. Hager recommended that the city not make an adjustment, but give Mrs. Brassieur a period of ~ months to pay excess of 4M gals. water used. Comm. Reese read bids on truck for street department, as follows: Al Ewing Ford Co. Lamb Chev. Co. $4,144.90 3,961. 20 Comm. Reese motioned the city buy the truck from Lamb Chev. Co. low bidder. Comm. Vandergrift seconded. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Hamby reported, in as much as a portable resucitator for the fire had been included in the 1967-68 budget and monies were still available budget, he would like permission from the council to get bids for same. agreed. department in the Council 1 ~ ':~, ~- TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: We the undersigned taxpa~ers of Orange County are not content with assessment from the City of Ocoee for tax purposes. Hamlin stated a motion as to the mills for ad valorum tax should be repeated after the meeting of the Equalization Board. 1 Comm. Hager motioned the city set millage at 10 mills on all non-exempt property for 1968. Comm. Hamby seconded. Comm. Hager, Vandergrift and Mayor Minor voted yes. Comm. Reese voted no. Motion carried. . " SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD: OCTOBEH 8, 1968 PRESENT: Comm. Hager, Hamby, Reese, Vandergrift and Mayor Minor. ABSENT: None. Special meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:17 P.M. I }~. Owens, representative from J. M. Smedley Publishers, Deland, Florida was quest of the council. Comm. Hager invited Mr. Owens to discuss city maps. She stated prices for city maps per telephone conversation to J. M. Smedley Publishers was: 17~ each for J~ and IJi~ each for 5~. Mr. Owens stated the maps were 15~~ each for 5M. Comm. Hager motioned the city purchase 5M city maps from J. M. Smedley Publishers, Deland, Florida at a price not to exceed 15~~ each for 5M plus $35.00 for advertising. Comm. Hamby seconded motion. No No's. Motion carried. Mr. Chris Daughdrill, represenative from Valley Decorating Company and Mr. J. T. Minor Jr. with Florida Power Corp. were quest of council in reference to Christmas Decorations for city. Comm. Hager motioned the city purchase JO-7ft diamond shaped !Eas. decorations at $75.00 each. Total $2,250.00 from Valley Decorating Company. Comm. Vandergrift seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Special meeting of council called for 7:00 P. M. Thursday night Oct. 10th, 1968. There being no further business Comm. Hamby motioned council adjourn. seconded the motion.
