Reesem Stinnett, Vandergrift, Miller & Mayor Minor Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:00 P. M. Minutes of last regular meeting read and approved Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city get bids for 1 mile sidewalk also have a committee to investigate where said sidewalks were needed - most. Comm. Reese stated he had motioned before that all monnies left in the street' dept. budget for 1968 be used for this purpose. Motion tabled until next meeting. Comm. Vandergrift motioned the word PLEASE oe placed on all stop signs. Motion died for lack of second. I Mr. Arthur Clark appeared before council and' stated he thought all negro bands should be barred from marching in Ocoee Xmas. Parade, and that McKey street I I I shoulb be changed to Mackey Street. He said the street was named for Mr. Bluford's wife and that the old city plat showed the street Mackey. Camm. Stinnett motioned that the Drew Negro Band be notified that they could not participate in Ocoee Xmas Parade and that Mr. Crawford chairman of the Smas Parade for the Jayeees, notify the school band director. Comm. Reese ammended the motion to let the Drew High School Band march in the parade this year, but in the future no negro band be invited without consulting the City Council. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett and Cemm. Reese withdrew their motion. James Vandergrift, Chief of Fire Department asked that the city approve 3 'men going to Miami for training at the A,erican Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeions in cooperation with the University of Miami Shcoll of Medicine. Comm. Stinnett motioned the city give Bill Peoples a check for $300.00 and send 3 firemen to above school. Conan. Reese seconded the motion. Motion carried. Chief Leroy Turner read monthly report for police department. Conan. Vandergrift motioned the city hire Teddie Hey for Police Officer. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried Atty. Hamlin reported he had received Gas franchise from the Apopka Natural Gas Co. and the the franchise provided insurance to hold the city blameless in case the city was sued. Atty. Hamlin to draw up new ordinance. There being no further business, C~ e e motioned the meeting adjourn. seconded the motion. Thereupon meeting of the c y c uncil adjourned at Att..9'''',)~ ~~
