MINUTES OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF OCOEE
OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD: JANUARY 7, 1969
PRESENT: COMM. Reese, Vandergrift, Stinnett, Miller and Mayor Minor
ABSENT: None
Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7: 00 P. M.
Minutes of last regular meeting read and approved.
Comm. Reese motioned all bills in order be paid. Comm. Stinnett second the
motion. No No's. Motion carried.

Mr. Wurst was guest of council to discuss workman's compensation.
all first report of injuries must be reported with 10 days.
He stated that
Mr. Ezra Ramsey asked the council if the city would like to buy property adjacent to
well #2. Lot 55 x 150 ft. located at 906 Malcom Road. Y.r. Reese to investigate
said property and report at next council meeting.

A committee from Brentwoodcame before council. y~. Clyde Estep speaker for the
committee, respectfully requested the city do something about the dogs in Brentwood.
Attorney Hamlin explained that, the city had no facilities for taking care of dogs,
and would require the city to hire a dog catcher and build a shelter to house
these dogs until the owner called for them. He stated he had talked with Orange County
Comm. in regards to this matter and that they were willing to co-operate with the
city and would send dog catchers, at the city's request and pick up these dogs.
Mayor Minor stated that the people call Leroy Turner, Chief of Police, if they have
any trouble with dogs and that the Chief would call Orlando and have the dog
catchers come out and pick up these dogs.
John Partee brought literature on "Problems with Help" explaing how fringe benefits
would be an incentive to keeping good employees. Mayor Minor ask that Mr. Partee
leave this literature for approval by the commissioners and report at the next
council meeting.
Milton Bevis, Attorney tIJ R.&El.- __,came before council in regards to the
annexation of Lake Shore Gardens. Atty. Hamlin read ordinance to annex Lake
Shore Garden, with stipulation to impose C 1 and R 3 zoning.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city accept the ordinance with intent to taking
in said property into the city. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. No No's
Motion carried.
Atty. Bevis, also brought ordinance for "Hour of Sale" relative to serving liquor
in Restaurants and Motel Restaurants on Sunday. Attorney Hamlin to check
with Orange Co and report at next council meeting.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned each commissioner bring an interested citizen to nexb
council meeting to work with City Planning & Zoning Committee. Comm. Stinnett
seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned Comm. Reese be made co-signer for city checks in the
absence of Mayor Minor. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. No No's.
Motion carried.
Mayor Minor recommended the city hire William S. Walker Jr., for police officer
and send Mr. Walker to Orlando Police Academy for 200 brs. training, at a cost
of $45.00, per person.
Comm. Stinnett motioned the city hire Mr. Walker as police officer on the
recommendation of the Mayor. Comm. Reese seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city purchase a Walkie Talkie for the Police Dept.
and that Leroy Turner, Chief of Police get bids for same. Comm. Reese seconded
the motion. No No's. Motion carried.
Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city pay all employees for Xmas. Holidays. Comm.
Stinnett seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried.
There being no further business Comm. Reese motioned Council adjourn. Comm.
Miller seconded. Thereupon meeting of the city council adjourned at 9:20 P. M.
