Vandergrift, Miller, Reese, Stinnett and Mayor Minor. ABSENT: None. Meeting called to order by Mayor Minor at 7:15 P. M. Comm. Vandergrift motioned to disperse with reading of minutes. Comm. Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city donate the $200.00 to the Ocoee Sports Association from the recreation fund. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carri.d. Mr. Boggs, principal of the Ocoee High School asked the council for a donation of $200.00 to help pay for new score board for the athletic field. He stated the board would cost $800.00 and that Pepsi-Cola would pay half leaving a balance of $400.00. The Athletic Association Fund had $200.00. Mr. Boggs also stated, that the old score board would be given to the Little League Field. Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city donate this amount to the Ocoee Athletic Association of Ocoee High School. Comrn. stinnett seconded the motion. No No~s. Motion carried. Ministers and members of various churches appeared before the council with petitions against the selling of liquor in restaurants on Sunday. Rev. Weeks was sp6kesman I for the committee. He stated the churches had made a overall survey of the city and that 624 petitions had been signed. 566 opposed, 19 for and 39 neutral. He stated that in as much as 90.4% were against the selling of alcoholic beverages in Restaurants on Sunday, he thought the council should not allow this ordinance to pass. I I I Herbert Gillis, Attorney for American Legion, ask if this would have any effect on the selling of beer at the American Legion, (A Private Club) on Sunday and that he would like the opportunity to offer argumnet in defense if necessary. Mayor Hinor assured him that he did not think the ordinance in question would have any effect on the American Legion, but he would be notified, if it did. tf4't,j Comm. Reese motioned the city accept ordinance and ~rant request to Ramada Inn to serve alcbhoitc beverages in the Restaurant with meals on Sunday. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm. Ydller voted NO. Comm. Vandergrift passed on first ballot. Comm. Reese, Stinnett and Mayor Minor voted YES. Motion carried. Mr. Tompkins, chairman of the Cemetery Working Committee ask for fertilizer and spray for the trees in the Cemetery. Roy Godbold will furnish labor. Comm. Vandergrift motioned the city purchase the fertilizer and spray from the Cemetery Fund. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Jack Marden brought plans for addition to house. Corom. Reese motioned to issue pennit to Jack Marsden for the addition. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Comm. Miller reported West Center and Ocoee Hills roads were completed. Comm. Reese reported the property recently acquired by the city had been cleaned and ask council for permission to move fence back to property line and purchase addition fence to enclose each end. Council agreed. Comm. Vandergrift ask Comm. Miller about bids for sidewalks. Comm. Miller stated he had one bid at $1.48 running foot. Comm. Vandergrift was appointed to contact Mr. Crawford, at the Ocoee Gulf Station not to dump any more oil on the groung in back of station. Comm. Vandergrift invited the Council to Jaycees meeting, v/ednesday Night at 8 P. 1>1. for round table discussion on youth center. Mayor l>anor ask the city to donate $200.00 to the Lions Club for advertising the city at the Community Booth druing the Central Florida Exhibition. Comm Vandergrift motioned the city donate as much as $200.00 to Lions Club. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. No No's. Motion carried. Atty. Hamlin stated he was working on new city charter and would have it ready in about two weeks, for review. There being no further business. Comm. Miller motion Council adjourn.
