MINUTES OF THE REGULAR IVIEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD
AUGUST 5, 1969
Present: Commissioners Miller, Reese, Stinnett and Vandergrift
Absent: Mayor Minor
The meeting was called or order by Commissioner Reese at 7:04 P.M.
Commissioner Stinnett made a motion to dispanse with the reading
of the minutes of the last meeting held July 15, 1969. Comm-
issioner Miller seconded the motion. Voted and carried.
Commissioner Stinnett made a motion that Commissioners approve
the following bills. Commissioner Miller seconded the motion.
Voted and carried.

Mr. W. H. Wurst presented the City with a bRl for the balance of
our workmen's compensation after the payroll was audited by the
company. Mr. Wurst suggested the City increase our policy on
workmen's compensation to $100,000.00 so we would not have such
a large difference in premium when the payroll was audited. ~~.
Wurst was instructed to transfer the bond from Mrs. Stoutenburgh
to Barbara Hooks if possible.

Marvin Sanders was present ot ask ~hen the paving was going to
start on Pine Street. Commissioner Miller informed him it would
be started vrithin 30 days.
Representatives from Professionsl Insurance Co. presented a plan
for group insurance for the City employees. They left two differ-
ent plans for the City Commissioners to look over, so they might
make a decision later.
An ag~ent was received fronl the Seaboard Railroad giving us per-
mission to put a water line under the railroad.
Attorney Hamlin reported they he, and Commissioners Miller and
Reese had attended a meeting concerning county wide sewer. He <'
stated there was a good possibility they would have sewer lines
in our area in the near future.
Commssioner Miller made a motion to table the hiring of an assistant
in the City Hall until the next meeting. Commissioner Stinnett
seconded the motion. Commissioners Ydller, Reese and Vandergrift
voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
The Clerk was instructed to write Ralph Vaughn informing him the
City had approved the proposal he had submitted to the City for
the'rezoning of his property.
Commissioner Ydller made a motion to adopt Ordinance #504, being an
ordinance of the I'Ci ty of Ocoee, Florida, annexing a certain tract
of unincorporated land lying contiguous to the municipal boundaries
of theCity of Ocoee and situated in Orange County, Florida, to-wit:
The NE~ of the SE~ lying westerly of the Seaboard-
Coastline Railroad and northeasterly of the Maguire
Road extension, less: Begin at the SE Corner of the
NE~ of the SE~, run N 89023'12" W, along the 40 acre
line,a distance of 183.20 feet to the northerly
R/W line of Maguire Road thence from a tangent bear-
ing of N 51006'411f W, run northwesterly, along the
arc of a curve concave to the S.W., having a radius
of 468.73 feet, an arc distance of 131.30 feet, to
the P. T., thence N 67009'41f! W 166.55 feet to the
centerlire of a ditch, thence along said center-
line N 75045'49" E 343.30 feet, then N 50033 '19" E
93.24 feet to the westerly R/W of the Seaboard
Coastline Railroad, thence S 35038'41Tf E along said
R/W a distance of 76.27 feet to the east line of
said Secti.on 19, thence S 0002'34" W 211.45 feet to
the point of beginning; subject to R/W for Story
Road and the Ocoee-Beulah Road, all being in Section
19 T22S R28E and consisting of 20.50 acres more or
less, not including R/W~
Commissioner Vandergrift seconded the motion. CommissiQners
Miller, Vandergrift and Stinnett voted YES. No NO;S. Carried
unanimously. The Building Permit on the fertilizer plafit wasn't
to be issued until the plans approved by all the Council members.
There were to be stipulations on the permit that the land be
fenced and landscaped.

~~. C. H. Johnson, of Roper Brothers, also informed the Comm-
issioners that Rinker Materials Corporation would like to build
a concrete plant on the property annexed in Ordinance #504. No
action was taken on this.
Commissioner Miller reported that work was started on the barn.
He also reported that the dock was in bad shape and needed repair-
ing. The Council decided to have the building inspector condemn
the dock until it would be repaired.
Commissioner Vandergrift was authorized to do away \rith the old
little league concession stand.
Co~~ssioners Reese and lfdller said someone haa asked them about
buying the City's Disc Harrow. They were to get' prices and
present them to the Council.
Commissioner Vandergrift reported he had hired a new employee in
the santitation department.
Councilman Vandergrift made a motion that the City Cooperate with
the JayCees in supporting the Boat Raaes:and the Labor Day
Celebration. Commissioner Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm-
issioners Vandergrift, Stinnett and ~liller
voted YES. No NO,S. Carried~unamimously.
Commissioner Stinnett made a motion to write ~rrs. Stoutenburgh
and ask that she explain how she arrived at the amount of the
checks she received from the City on July 15, 1969. Council-
man Miller seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett and Miller
voted YES. Comm. Vandergrift abstained from voting. Motion
was carried.
Comm. ~liller recommended that the Cemetery Committee have full
charge of taking care of the Cemetery and the City pay the bills
from the Cemetery Fund. Comm. Stinnett made a motion to ask
the Cemetery Committee to be present at~the next meet~ng to dis-
cuss the Cemetery caretaking. Comm. Miller seconded the motion.
Comm. lf~ller, Stinnett and Vandergrift voted YES. No NO'S.
Carried unanimously.
Attorney Hamlin was to contact someone to appear at the meeting
to discuss a zoning ordinance for the City of Ocoee.
There being no further business Councilman Miller made a motion
to adjourn. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Thereupon Council
adjourned at 9:50 P.N.
