HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-11-1969 SS MINUTES' OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD NOVEMBER 4, 1969 Present: Mayor Rox; Commissioners: Stinnett, Whitehead, Farmer & Miller I Absent: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fox at 8:45 P.M. At: this time Mayor Fox administered the oath or orrice to newly elected Commissioner Hoyt Farmer. " Th~ Mayor had been previously sworn' into orrice by Justice or the Peace C. M. Tucker. . A meeting for an equalization board meeting on taxes was set for 6:00 P.M. on November 18, 1969. All Department heads were left as they were until next meeting with Comm. Farmer in charge of the Sanitation Department. . Mayor Fox appointed Comm. Stinnet as vice-Mayor and authorized him to sign ch~cks in his absence. . " Comm. Whitehead made a motion to accept the proposed plat from Mr. W., H. Wurst on his property located on Silver Star Road. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm. Whitehead, Stinnett, Farmer and Miller voted YES~ No NO'S. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Comm. Stinnett made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 9:05 P.M. The purpose of the meeting was for the Mayor to appoint the department heads of each department. They are as follows: Mayor Fox as Chairman of Police Department - Comm. Stinnet Asst I Comm~ Farmer as Chairman"of'Fire Dept. - Comm.Whitehead Asst. Comm. Stinnett as Chairman of Water Dept. - Comm. Miller Asst. Comm. Miller as Chairman of Street Dept. - Comm. Farmer Asst. Comm. Whitehead as Chairman or Sanitation Dept. - Mayor Fox Asst. I I I Comm. Stinnett made a motion to buy the necessary equipment for the police department as follows: Protector Helmets, Face Shields, Fingerprint kits, Gas Masks, Multi-Purpose TG Grenades. Comm. Farmer seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett, Farmer, Whitehead and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Comm. Stinnett made a motion to keep the 1967 Chevrolet Police Car as an extra car. Comm. Farmer seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett, Farmer, Miller and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Comm. Farmer made a motion to have a new set of times put on the 1967 Chevrolet Police car, aeoer.a~ords Service Station. Comm. Stinnett seconded'the motion. Comm. Farmer, Stinnett, Miller and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. The City Commissioners discussed have a police matron to search all women prisoners. They were to find some one to do this job. Invitations were received from Winter Garden and Apopka Chamber of Commerces to ride in the their Christmas Parades. The Comm. accepted the invitation from Winter Garden, but declined the one from Apopka. Letters were to be written to this effeet. There being no further business Councilman Miller made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Thereupon Council adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
