MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCO~E, FLORIDA HELD
DECEMBER 2, 1969
Present: Mayor. Fox; Commissioners: Stinnett, Whitehead, Farmer & Miller
Absent: None.
The meeting was. called to order by Mayor Fox at 7:00 P.M. The
minutes of the last regular meeting held November 18, 1969 were
read and approved witb the exception. of rehiring the dispatchers.

Comm. Miller made a motion to pay all bills
seconded the motion. Voted and carried.

Harvey Ford was present again to hear the decision on his dog
box being picked up by City trash men. Mayor Fox proposed to
pay Mr. Ford for the box and Comm. Whitehead made a,motion to
pay him $35.00. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion.- Comm.
Stinnett, vlliitehead, Miller and Farmer voted YES. No NO'S.
Carried unanimouiy.
Comm. Stinnett-reported that Lake Shore Gardens had put up $5,000.00 I
for water mains in Lake Shore Gardens.
Comm. Miller asked what was going to be done about the back taxes.
Our attorney was to contac t the ones with delinquent taxes.

Comm. Farmer made a motion to have our attorney write the Florida
Telephone Corp. about why they have been charging us so much on the
telephone 656-1314, and see about getting another number if the rates
are cheaper. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett,
Farmer, Miller and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unan-
imously.
'Comm. Farmer made a moUbn to have our Attorney write the Florida
Telephone Corp. to find out why the Florida 'Telephone Corp. does not
have a frachinse with the City of Ocoee. Comm. Stinnett seconded
the motion. Comm. Farmer, Stinnett, Miller & Whitehead voted YES.
No NO'S. Carried unanimously.

Mayor Fox proposed that we have a demonstration/some street sweepers.
Comm. Miller was to check into haveing some demonstrated. _
J. L. Kelley from Kelley's Cabinet Shop and Delma Fields were present
to discuss their personal prope!ty taxes. Our attorney was to check
with the County Tax Assessor about their taxes.
Mayor FOM reported that the dog situation had gotten out of hand and
that the dog catchers were not doing their job. Our attorney was to
write the County concerning this.
Comm. Farmer made a motion to buy dinner for the senior varsity foot-
ball players. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Farmer,
Stinnett, Miller & Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
I. Z. Anderson Janator Service was to be contacted and get a price
on having the dispatchers office cleaned once a week.
Comm. Farmer made a motion to continue the discussion of the Youth
Center until Mr. Pickerill could be present with plans of the changes
they want to make. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm.
Farmer, Whithead, Miller and Stinnett voted YES. No NO"S. Carried
unanimously.
West Orange Industries, Inc. plan to build two more stores on the
Shopping Center and they would like to have Siluer Star Road con-
tinued to the paint and Body Shop andSouth to WinterGarden Road.
Mr. Griffin stated that West Orange Industires would give the City
the right~of-way in front of the shopping center and Sid Reeves
would give half to the Winter Garden Road and possibly Mark Britt
would give the other half. Comm. Farmer made a motion to table
this discussion until more informaion could be obtained. Comm.
Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Farmer, Stinnett, Whitehead,
and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Canried unanimously.
Comm. Farmer reported that Franklin Street was breaking off on the
edges. Comm. Miller was to check on this.
The Clerk was instructed to call attorney about a list of occupational
licenses from surrounding areas and about some personell policies.
Mr. Benn Griffin asked the Council to consider connection Magmire
Road and Bluford Avenue so the road will be straight from Hwy. 50
thru Ocoee. He also asked about the City buying the airport from
Harold Maguire and have an Ocoee Municipal Anport. He is working
on plans to buy the land at no expense to the mity. He also sug-
gested that we have the County Sewer lines run to the City Limits
so we might have it available if it were needed for any businesses.
Mr. W. H. Wurst asked about having Hill Street blacktopped. Comm.
Stinnett and Miller were to investigate this.
Comm. Farmer made a' motion to. raise fire contracts on residBnts to
$10.00 and the contracts to begin on January 1, 1970. Comm.
Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion.
Comm. Farmer, Whitehead, Miller, & Stinnett voted YES. No NO'S.
Carried unaimously.
The Commissioners discussed putting the dispatchers under the
supervision of the police commissioner. This discussion was'
tabled until the next regular meeting.
Comm. Stinnett was to move the button for the fire siren from
the fire station to the dispatchers office.
There being no further business Comm. Miller made a motion to
adjourn this meeting.- Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion.
Thereupon Council adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
