~IINUTES OF THE REGULAR ~;1EETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD MARCH 3, 1970
Present: Mayor Fox, Commissioners: Stinnett, Farmer, Miller & Vfuitehead
Absent:
None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fox at 7:00 P.M. The minutes
of the last regular meeting held Feb. 17, 1970 and the specia+ meeting
held Feb. 24, 1970 were read and approved.
Comm. Stinnett made a motion to pay all bills in order. Comm. White-
head seconded the motion. Voted and Carried.

Comm. Miller made a motion to adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, the City of Ocoee is a small municipality in Central
Florida, and
WHEREAS, the City of Ocoee like other small municipalities as I
well as some large ones does not have sufficient independant
finances to pave and maintain all of its streets, and
WHEREAS, all the taxes presently collected for gasoline
sales in the State of Florida are ear-marked for purposes other
than use by the municipalities, and
WHER&AS the purchasers of gasoline utilize the streets and

IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED:
That the legislature of the state of Florida take whatever
steps are necessary to allocate one cent per gallon on all taxes
collected on the sale of gasoline ot be ear-marked for the use
of the municipalities of the State of Florida,
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED:
That this City Commission shall make its feelings known by
way of this resolution and shall take such other steps as it
deems proper to bring to the attention of the appropriate officials
the problems as set forth herein.
RESOLVED this 3rd March, 1970, at a public meeting
in the City Hall of the City of Ocoee, Orange County, Florida.
~tr. Ray Gatch, representing ~:r. Jerry Brovm was present 0 ask held from
the City in getting Orange County to conply with an agreement for
Right-of-Way Maguire Road Extensior., Ocoee dated June 19, 1967~
Our attorney was to write County Commissioners and ask them to have
a representative present at our next meeting to discuss this.
~tr. Tom Cox asked if the building at 333 N. Bluford could be con-
verted into a duplex. The Council felt the lot was not large enough.
Mr. & Mrs. Nordenburgh in the Security ~;obile Home Park asked if
they could put another trailer on their property and connect to
same water meter and sewer lines as the Clarks have done next door
to them. The Comm. instructed the building inspector to write
Mr. Clark and inform him he must have another meter and septic
tank and no one else \rill be permitted to have two trailers on the
same meter and septic tank.
Comm. Farmer made a motion to buy a typewriter for the dippatchers
office. COIT~. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett ,FArmer,
Miller and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Spencer Cross appeared before the Comm. To ask that they buy the
Maguire Airport on Maguire Road for a municipal airport for Ocoee.
He stated Mr. Maguire was asking over $200,000.00 for the property
but the thought the City could buy it for about $185,000.00. No
action was taken at this time.
Comm. Stinnett made a motion to zone Lots 34, 35, & 36 on Frnanklin
Street for light industry at the request of Delma Fields, present
owner. Comm. Farmer seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett, Farmer,
Miller and ,\~itehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Comm. Miller made a motion to give permission to Sun Oil Co. for
a variance for the pumps at the Sunoco Station to be 15 feet from
right-of-way instead of 50 feet. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion.
Comm. ~liller, Stinnett, Farmer and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S.
Carried unanimosly.
Comm. Stinnett made a motion to send four firemen to diving school
and to buy wet suits for 2 men at the present time. Comm. ~mithead
seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett, Farmer, Whithead, and Miller
voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Leonard Witte, a representative from Sig Segal Realty, informed the
Comm. a builder from Orlando would like to build 7 houses on Hill
Avenue and would like to know if the City would pave the street I
in front of the property. Comm. Miller in charge of the street
dept. said the City would black-top this street but would not in-
stall curbs and gutters. V~. Witte was to contact F.H.A. and see
if they would accept the street without curbs and gutters.
Buddy Dykes of T. M. Co~~unications was present to learn the decision
on their proposal of Cable T. V. Our attorney stated he had contacted
various cities and we would take bids from other companies later
as other cities and counties are doing.
Mr. Amick, the developer of Brentwood Unit #4, was informed that the
City was going to require each de~eloper to give 5% of land or .land
value of each new subdivision developed in Ocoee. ~~. Amick stated
he would rather give the money since he already had his plat draWn.
Comm.Whitehead made a motion to aC~~b of the purc~price,
which will be $2,250.00 and put it ln a special escrow account for
recreational only. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm.
Stinnett, Miller, Farmer and vfuitehead voted YES. No No/s.
Carried unanimously.
Mr. Amick asked who was to receive the water connection and would
he be reimbursed for the water mains he is to install. Comm.
Stinnett said everyone else had paid for the lines and their sub-
division, so ~r. Amick would not be reimbursed and the C.ty would
collect the connection fee. '
Florida Power corp. submitted an agreement for an easement to the
sewer plant for Lakeshore Gardens. Comm. Stinnett made a motion
to sign this agreement. Comm. Farmer seconded the motion. Comm.
Stinnett, Farmer, Whitehead and Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried
unanimously.

There being no." further business Comm. Ivliller made a motion to ad-
journ this meeting. Comm.vlliitehaad seconded the motion. Thereupon
Council adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
