MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY, OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD MAY 5, 1970
Present: Y~yor Fox, Commissioners, Stinnett, Farmer, Miller and Whitehead
Absent: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fox at 7:00 P.M. The
minutes of the last regular meeting held April 21, 1970 were read
and approved. .

Comm. Whitehead made a motion to pay all bills in order. Comm. Miller
seconded the motion. Voted and carried.

The Clerk was instructed to write Leon Adams and inform him that he has
not paid for ,the pipe installed under his driveway and if this is not
corrected within 20 days the pipe will be removed.
The Clerk was inst~ted to write the Orange County Commissioners
and thank them for paving Kissimmee Avenue.

The Commissioners discussed the possibility of having their. own
fuel oil tank for city vehicles. This was tabled until next
regular meeti:ng.

Comm. Stinnett made a motion to have the Fire Department anchor dr.ums
in the lake around the swimming area. Comm. Miller seconded the
motion. Comm. Stinnett, Miller, Farmer and Whitehead voted YES.
No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
Comm. Whitehead made a motion to adopt Ordinance #512, an ordinance
regulating and licensing taxicabs and taxicab drivers and providing
penalties for the violation thereof in the City of Ocoee, Orange
County, Florida. Comm. Stinnett seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett,
Whitehead, Miller and Farmer seconded the motion.
The Mayor proposed to allow Mr. Joijnnie Arnold to have first option
to renew his franchise after 5 years providing his service and bus-
iness has been satisfactory to City Commission and to the public.
The Clerk was instructed to write letters to owners of vacant houses
that need repair or to be torn down.
The Mayor report~d on his trip to Tallahassee in regard to the 2%
Resort Tax.
Mrs. Nordenburgh of Security Mobile Homes asked about the dog law.
She was informed that we had adopted the County Ordinance and
that they were to take care of this. She also asked about the
paving of the entrance of Mobile Lane. Comm. Miller said the
paving contractor was to come Wednesday to start on it. The Comm.
was also asked about the parking on the streets and trucks going
into the trailer park. The police were instructed to keep the
trucks out. The Commission were to check into the parking on
the streets.
Mr. Wurst reported that Mr. Jackson wanted to be relieved of his
duties on the zoning commission. The zoning commission asked that
Jerry Kennedy be appointed in his place and that Mr. Edgar J.
Brooklyn be appointed to the commission also. Comm. Stinnett
made a motion that these two men be accepted by the City Comm.
Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Stinnett, Whitehead,
Miller and Farmer voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.
The Clerk was instructed to write C. A. Meyer Paving accepting the
construction of the streets and sewage treatment plant in Lakeshore
Gardens.
Comm. Stinnett made a proposal to write Walter Kuhrt and ask if he
would be interested=in serving as City Engineer.
Comm. Stinnett reported that we were going to need anouher elevated
water tank in the near future to take care of the new houses in
the process of being built, that we were already having a shortage
'beeause of dry weather. The Mayor suggested that we ask people
hot to . A. water at certain times of the day. Mr. Miller stated
that he thought people has quit watering so'cmuch since the water
bills had been sent and they saw how much water they had used.
Application for building perrott for Reed Brown was granted.
There being no further business Comm. Farmer made a motion to
adjourn this meeting. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. There-
upon Council adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
