Stinnett at 7:00 P.M. Comm. Farmer made a motion to dispense with the minutes of the last regular meeting held June 2, 1970. Comm. Whithead seconded the motion. Voted and carried. Comm. Letter and bids from Oil companies in regards to City gas purchasing were open~d: 1 I I I Carse Oil Co. - 26.4~ per gallon from station H. M. Bowness - 26.4~ per gallon and install tank and pump on our property. Humble Oil and Refining Co. - 19~ per gallon plus state tax. Gulf Oil Co. was unable to bid at this time. Comm. Miller made a motion to coritinur buying from Carse Oil Co until the end of the fiscal year, October 31, 1970. Comm. White- head seconded the motion. ' Comm. 'Miller, Whitehead and Farmer voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously.' , Representatives from the Prudential Insurance Co. discussed a group insurance policy for City employees. They are to return July 21, 1970 with a plan for our employees with the premimums. Comm. Farmer made a motion to hire Re~ecca Thigpin as Iifeguard for Starke Lake for the summer at $67.50 per week, beginning Monday, June 22, 1970. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Farmer, Whitehead & Miller voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Comm. Farmer made a motion to issue a beer license to Mr; Richard Schell for Dick & Sam's Sub Shop. Motion died for lack of a second. The Clerk was to write the American Legion to build a container for the garbage cans belonging to the Legion and to keep lids on all cans, according to our City ordinance. The Clerk was to write the American Legion to close until they obtain their license. minutes when the Legion opened they are to and sell beer and wine only. Mr. Ted Micalsen discussed the cabinet shop manufacturer that wanted to build North of Wardco on the Clarcona Road and annex into the City. He discussed'with the Comm. some reasons why he and the zoning comm. felt it would be better to locate some other place. He is to submit this to the comm. in writing. that they will have Accordirig to the have a Club license Comm. Farmer made a motion to draw an ordinance to use copper wiring on all new construction and not to use any P.V.C. pipe. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Farmer, Whitehead, and Miller voted XES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. A representative from Orange Cablevision discussed their bid with the Comm. The Commissioners informed him we'.had already tentatively accepted T. M. Communications and felt it was not fair to discuss other areas of revenue with him. Comm. Farmer had bids on a portable power unit for the Fire Dept. LGrainger - $600.25 Graybar - 48$.60 ' Comm. Whithead made a motion to purchase the unit from Graybar. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. Comm. Whitehead Miller and Farmer voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Comm. Farmer made a motion to let employees have Monday off for the 4th of July. Comm. Miller seconded the motion. Comm. Farmer, Miller and Whitehead voted YES. No NO~S. Carried unanimously. Comm. Miller made a motion to adopt the following vacation schedule for the present time: 1 year employment - 1 week vacation except I police 2 weeks 2-10 years" 2 weeks 10-15 yrs." 3 weeks over 15 yrs." 4 weeks Comm. Farmer seconded the motion. Comm. Whitehead, Miller and Farmer voted YES. No NO~S. carried unanimously. The contract between Kihrt and Assoc. and theCity of Ocoee was tabled until our-attorney could contact the County Engineer conserning the rates in the contract. Comm. Miller reported that Mobile Lane had been repaired and Lee Street was being paved and the prisoners were cleaning up" th~ lake front. > Comm. Whitehead reported Mr. Howard Lilly wanted to have a portable vegetable stand on South Bluford at Geneva Street. The Comm. Said he would have to meet with the zoni~g commission. Comm. Miller asked about the yourig people loitering around the corner of Bluford and McKey Streets. The police were to keep them from behind the buildings. There being no further business Comm. (' C4~~ -- - Mayor Attest :c2.aAL~ ~~ ~ erk MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD JUNE 30, 1970 Present: 'Mayor Fox; comm. Stinnett, Farmer, Whithead and Miller Absent: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fox at 7:05 P.M. Mr. Tommy Ritten came before the Commission and asked for a license to operate a wrecker service, just east of Sid Reeves on a temporary basis, then later to be on Sid Reeves property after it is cleane<< up. This property will have a six foot wooden fence around it, painted, with hedging on the outside. This'business will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using 2 wreckers. Their equipment will be approved by the Highway Patrol. This is to be a wrecker I service, not a junk yar or repair shop. They will need a building to keep necessarY cars locked up in case of a homicide. Comm. Farmer made a motion to table this until next meeting. Motion died for lack of a second. '\ \.
