Crawford, Turner, Carter & Whitehead Absent: None The meeting was called to order by ~~yor Fox at 7:00 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held March 16, 1971 and the Public Hearing on the Zoning Ordinance held March 23, 1971 were read and approved. Mayor Fox is to take care of having these signs removed. After discussing the three applicants they had interviewed for the job of City Manager Comm. Crawford made a motion to hire Edward G. Davis as City Manager. Comm. Whitehead seconded the motion. Comm. Crawford, Turner, Carter and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. The Clerk was to notify Mr. Davis of his appointment and to write a letter of thanks to the other two applicants. Our attorney informed the Commissioners that according to the Florida State Statutes, Overland Hauling Co., Inc. was~exempt from paying an occupational license for the City. Mayor Fox asked about putting a gate on the East side of the fence around the City Barn so the large trucks would not have to turn around after gassing up. Bids were to be obtained for this gate. Comm. Crawford made a motion to authorize our attorney to write Sid Reeves the second and final letter and give him 10 days to either clean up the junk yard on his property OD fence it from sight or further action will be taken by the Commissioners. Comm. Turner seconded the motion. Comm. Crawford, Turner, Carter and Whitehead vdEd YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. Our attorney also was to write Silver Springs Citrus Coop and ask them to clean up around the area at the intersection of McKey Street and Kissimmee Avenue. The Flanning and Zoning Commission was to be notified about the green block house on South Bluford Avenue to take action to have this house condemned and torn down. The Clerk was to write West Orange IndustlTies, Inc., asking that they either repair the service station on Wurst Road in the Spring Lake Hills area or have it town down. Mr. Bob Mc~uillan, from the Florida Telephone Corporation was pre- sent to report that the studies they were making in regard to the telephone-system in Ocoee was 50% completed. He also presented a request-for a permit to install larger ,cable in Ocoee to give Ocoee residents better telephone service. \ I Mrs. Vivian Rogers complained about her\neighbors ,at 1600 Jemima Avenue running two businesses from their home and having un- sightly cars in their yard. Leroy Turner.was to check into this. Comm. Turner made a motion to accept the first reading of Ordinance No. 522 conserning No Swimming in Lake Moxie. Comm. Crawford seconded the motion. Comm. Crawford, Turner, Carter and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. The first reading of an ordinance pertaining to raising garbage collection fees was presented. No action was taken until next meeting. Comm. Turner reported the Lions Club would like to thank the City for their help in the Central Florida Fair Exhipit. Comm. Carter made a motion to purchase,15 tents, lanterns and cooking gear to belong to the City of Ocoee and to be loaned to the Boy Scouts. Comm. Turner seconded the motion. Comm. Crawford, Turner, Carter and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S. Carried unanimously. There being no further business Comm. Crawford made a motion to adjourn this meeting. Comm. COMMISSION MEETING OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA APRIL 8, 1971 Present: Mayor Fox, C6mm. Crawford, Turner, Carter & Whitehead Absent: None . , The Meeting was called to order by. Mayor Fox at 7:30 P.M. The purpose of the meeting was to hire a City Manager since Mr. Davis who was hired at the regular meeting had already taken another job. Comm. Carter made a motion to hire John L. Vignetti as our City Manager. Comm. Turner:~seconded the motion. Comm. Crawford, I Turner, Carter and Whitehead voted YES. No NO'S.
