MINUTES OF THE REGULlR MEETING OF THE CITY
CO~IISSION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA HELD
DECEMBER 19, 1972

The meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor
Fox at 7:02 P.M. The minutes of the last regular meeting held
December 5, 1972 were read. Comm. Turner said that the amount of
the rent for the Youth Center for Square Dance Lessons was $10.00
weekly, not monthly. Comm. Turner made a motion to accept the
minutes as corrected. The motion was seconded by Comm. Lyle and
passed with a YES vote from Comms. Hamby, Harper, Lyle, Turner.
No NO's.

There was a reccommendation from the Planning and Zoning Board to
annex with the proper zoning 177 Acrep' on A. D.Mims Rd. Part of
the land would be-zoned R3, part wo~ld be R-IAAA, part would be
RIAA. Comm. Turner made a motion to have Attorney John Rhodes draw I
up an ordinance annexing and re-zoning the property. The motion
was seconded by Comm. Lyle and carried with a YES vote from Comms.
Turner, Lyle, marper, Hamby. No NO's. The mayor informed the
representatives that it would several monthe before water could-be
supplied to them 8ecause of the water tank. '
There was a request for funds toward the lighting system for the
municipal park that was going up on Wurst Rd. and Adair Rd. Comm.
Lyle made a motion that the City Commission allocate $25,000.00
toward the lights-and if it doesn't require the full amount, the rest
would go toward fence, and other expenses. Comm. Turner seconded the
motion and it was-carried with a YES vote from Comms. Turner, Harper,
Lyle. Comm. Hamby voted HO.
Comm. Turner made -a motion to give the city manager permission to sell
an old 57 Ford Panel and an old 51 Chevy Truck that belonged to the
city. The motion-was seconded by Comm. Harper and carried with a YES
vote from Comms. Hamby, Harper, Turner, Lyle. No NO's.
Comm. Harper made .a motion to accept the resolution drawn up by
Attonney Rhodes making an exception to the sell of alcoholic beverages
on New Year's Eve .since it fell on Sunday. Exception being that it
could be sold and ~rank on the premises from 2:00 P.M. Sunday until
closing qn Monday Night. Motion was seconded by Comm. Turner and
carried with a YES vote from Comms. Turner, Harper, Lyle. Comm. I
Hamby voted No.---
Comm. Turner made a motion to give employees the 22 and 25 December for
Chrtstmas Holidays. and January 1 for New Year. The motion was seconded
by Comm. Hamby, and carried with a YES vote from Comms. Turner, Hamby,
Lyle, Harper. Nn NO's.
Comm. Turner made a motion to amend the budget to allocate the Federal
Revenue Sharing Funds in to these catergories- $7000.00 for the new
City Hall, $25,000.00 for lighting system in municipal park-remainder
to be used in Tri-City Airport Project. The Motion was seconded by
Comm. Hamby and carried with a YES vote from Comms. Hamby, Harper,
Turner, Lyle. No NO's.
Comm. Turner made a motion to have /the City Manager placer$lOO,OOO.OO
in Certificate of Deposits. The motion was seconded by Comm. Harper
and carried with a-YES vote from Comms. Hamby, Harper, Turner, Lyle.
No NO's. ---
Comm. Turner made a motion to give the City Employees a New Year's
Eve Party on December 31 at the Youth Center. Motion was seconded by
Comm. Harper and carried with a YES vote from Comms. Harper, Hamby,
Turner, Lyle.
Comm. Hamby suggested that names and places be attached to ordinances I
so they would be easy to associate them with the proper people. ,
Comm. Turner asked the Police and Fire Chief their feelings on helping
with the Boat Regatta. There aas no objection from the Police Chief,
but the Fire Chief said no because of problems with the Organization
causing some conflict.

~~yor Fox suggested that the City Manager arrange a meeting with the
people conneected with the project so that problems could be worked
on.
There being no further business to be brought before the Commission,
Comm. Turner made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by
Comm. Harper and carried with a YES vote from Comms. Turner, Harper,
Hamby, Lyle. No NO's. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
