MINUTES OF THE CITY commISSION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD ON
OCTOBER 3D, 1973
PRESENTI mayor fox, Comm. Turner, Harper, Hamby and Lyle.
ABSENT: None
The meeting began at 7130 p.m. The minutes of the last meeting were
read. Comm. Tu~ner made a motion to accept minutes as read, seconded
by Comm. Harper.
1. Insurance Briefing - Doug Everd briefed the Council on the Insur-
ance disability program with Prudential Insurance Co. Comm. Harper
made a motion to enter into the program with the provision made that
the 12 days sick leave be awarded each employee commencing November
1st, 1973. Also setting up of four catagories of payments. Super-
visory at 5125.00, workers at 5100.00, cemetery workers at 575.00
and elected officials at $30.00. An added pravi~ion that the City
will pay the disability pay until reimbursed by Prudential and the
Insurance Company to send check to the employer, the existing leav~
plan will be discontinued and employees will be paid sick leave
accummulated to 31 October 1973. Seconded by Comm. Lyle. Motion
stands as carried. No Nays.
2. Amick Sewerage Agreement- Copies of the corrected agreement given
to Council to read. Comm. Harper made motion that Amick Sewerage
Agreement be accepted as presented. Seconded by Comm. Lyle. Motion
carried.
Motion made by Comm. Lyle that we grant Mr. Amick a sewerage
rate at 56.00 per month, seconded by Comm. Harper. Unanimously carried.
3. Appointment of Canvassing Board - Motion made by Comm. Turner to
appoint Comm. Harper, Lyle, Hamby and City Manager to Board. Seconded
by Comm. Harper. Motion carried unanimously.
4. White Road - Motion made by Comm. Turner that White Road Sidewalk
Contract be awarded to Basic Asphalt, low bid being $8,525.00, seconded
the Comm. Harper. Motion carried. Comm. Harper asked if Orlando Avenue
can be changed to White Road. City Manager to look into this.
5. Energy Crisis- Commissioners decided to put up Christmas de-
corations but not to burn lights.
I Unpaid taxas 1966-1970- It was SU9gested by Council that further
investigation be made on the unpaid balances of taxes.

Home coming parade= Comm. Harper, Hamby, Turner and City Manager
and mayor Fox will participate in the Parade at 4100 p.m. on November
2nd, 1973.
Lee Street Survey- Mr. Florry asked if Lee Street and Mildred Street
could be open. Comm. Harper stated it would be to expensive for the
City to open streets. Suggested to Mr. Florry to discuss this with
Ficquette Estates to share the cost of constructing a dirt street.
Mayor Fox suggested Attorney Caldwell look into legal aspects of the
Platt and write a letter to Ficquette Estates regarding ownership of
Mildred Street which is a dedicated City of Ocoee street.
Motion made by Comm. Lyle to continue Chief Turners salary at the
old rate of pay for two more weeks, seconded by Comm. Harper.
Comm. Lyle asked about Political Rally using one half of qualifing
fee. Attorney Caldwell has looked into the matter and in his opinion
it was not legal to spend taxpayers money for Political Rally.
Comm. Lyle asked about Davis Property Problem, City Manager assured
him he is still working on it.
Budget Review- City Manager briefed Commission on summary of the
Budget for Fiscal Year ending 30 September 1973.
Being no further business Comm. Harper made a motion to adjourn,
seconded by Comm. Turner. Unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 10:30
p.m.
