HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-09-1974 SS I I I MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETLNG OF THE CITY comMISSION OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD APRIL 9,1974 After a joint work session of the Planning and Zoning Board and the City Council, there was a special meeting of the City Council called to order at 8.20 P.M. PRESENT. Mayor, Comms, Hamby, Lyle and Crawford ABSENT: Comm. Harper H.A. Ross came before Council requesting an ordinance to be drawn up on streets that were abandoned in the April 2 Council meeting. Mr. Ross also requested that the 30 ft. easement of California Ave. and Oak st. be abandoned. After much discussion, Comm. Lyle made the motion to draw up said ordinance but not to include California Ave. and the remaining portion of Oak St. Comm. Hamby seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Motion carried. Comm. Lyle moved to waive agenda, seconded by Comm. Hamby. Marty Moore came requesting $250.00 for the girls softball team. Comm. Lyle made the motion to give him the $250.00, to be charged to the 9080 account in the recreation fund. Comm. Hamby seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Motion carried. Mr. Dye of Bel Aire Homes came before Council to discuss ~ misunderstandings between he and the Council concerning Geneva St. Lakewood Ave. and White Rd. Comm. Crawford made the motion to table the discussion on Geneva st. until mr. G. Thomas, as city surveyor, and Mr. Caldwell, city attorney, have a chance to research all pertinent information. Comm. Lyle added that Mr. Thomas would be paid for his work. Comm. Lyle then seconded the motion. Unanimous vote. Motion carried. -2- The discussions on the other streets were tabled also so Mr. Dye may come to the City Hall to listen to the tapes II concerning said steets. He will have another discussion with Council at the April 16th meeting. George Sullivan, chairman of Roads, Sidewalks and Drainage Study Commission, came before Council and made a report regarding problems in the city. There was a discussion by the Mayor on setting up a 5-10 year program for paving streets, resurfacing sidewalks and repairing drainage at the City's expense. No decision was made. Comm. Lyle made the motion to make the Committee an Offical Committee for the City Commission, seconded by Comm. Hamby. Unanimous vote. Motion carried. The City Manager stated he received a telephone call from Chicago Bridge and Iron indicating they would commence I construction on the elevated tank.April 18,1974. Meeting was adjourned at 11P.M.
