HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-15-1974 SS I MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CI'lY OF OCOEE HELD IS- ~ AUGUST 74 PRESENT: MAYOR VANDERFRIIT, COMM. CRAWFORD, LYlE AND HARPER COMM. HAMBY ABSENT : Meeting was called to order at 7: 35 p.m" Final results of the Ci tys' investigation of Chief Leroy Turner and Captain Earl Turner: Cormn Lyle read the following statement: " Effective August 14, 1974 the State Attorney's office in conjunction with City Corrrrnissioner Robert Lyle and City Manager John Vignetti, has terminated their investigation. Results are as follows: Capt. Turner tendered his resignation on August 12, 1974. His resignation was accepted and will be effective on August 23, 1974 (following his two week vacation). Chief Leroy Turner will be continued in his capacity as Police Chief and was returned to duty on August 14, 1974. The State Attorney's office in accord with the City of Ocoee Officials deems no further action is necessary in this matter. Recormnended action is: That in the future an extensive background investigation be conducted prior to personnel being hired inille Police Department. The state Attorney's Office has deemed their investigation to be of a confidential nature and no details can be released." Cormn. Crawford moved to accept, seconded by Cormn Harper. Unanimous. Frank Turner from the audience ask if a citizen and tax payer of Ocoee wanted to know IIDre about the charges against the two men where could they obtain it. Cormn. Lyle stated they would have to contact State Attorney Robert Egan. The Mayor ask that a letter of thanks bE~ sent to Mr. Egan.
