MINUTES OF THE CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD OCT. 21, 1975

~.a&b Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with an offering of prayer
fQllowed by the pledge of allegiance.
II.a Minutes of the last meeting were read. Motion to accept was made by
Comm.Whitehead, seconded by Comm. Stinnett. Unanimous.
IIIa. Hollis Powell came before council on behalf of the Ocoee Jaycees
requesting permission from council to hold a Christmas parade in Ocoee on
December 5, 1975. Comm. Crawford moved to grant said request, seconded by
Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous.
IIIb. Justin Fox pro-tern for City Attorney stated that the Judge denied
Teleprompters' motion for a temporary injunction against the City for a rate
increase.
IIIc. The condemned house owned by the Crosbys on Lakewood Ave. is being
torn down.
IIId. City Manager reported details of meeting held with county engineer
and city engineer on October 15, 1975 regarding drainage on Charles, Lyman
Security, Mobile and Lakewood Avenues, the cost of project is estimated to be
$16,614.00. The County Engineer tentatively approved the project. Construction
will not begin until a drainage easement can be obtained by the county.
Estimated date for starting the project is December 1, 1975.
IVa. Mr. Blackburn came before council requesting permission to repair
parts of his house on Lakewood Avenue that was destroyed be fire. After much
I discussion Mr. Blackburn was told he should see the C~ty Building Inspector.
IVb. City Manager informed council that the county had given the City
permission to use the new County Court House Annex for city court and also
for commission meetings. After some discussion council decided to take the
offer under consideration.
IVc. FY 74/75 4th quarter final briefing deferred until last item on agenda.
Va. Lakewood paving is completed. Comm. Stinnett moved to pay for the
paving in two payments one $5,741.10 and $10,671.00 from street department
~ccount #7040, seconded by Comm. Crawford. Unanimous.
Vb. City Manager reported that the Brentwood sign is almost completed.
Comm.Crawford stated that the foundation is crackea and ask that council
take a look at it.
Vc. City Auditors will be at City Hall beginning October 27, 1975.
Vd. Florida League of Cities Convention is to be held 23,24 & 25 of October.
Mayor stated the Tri-County League of Cities would hold a breakfast
Saturday, October 25th at 8:00 a.m. and everyone is invited.
Comm.Crawford ask what happened to the caution lights that were to be
installed at Kissimmee and Story Road and Kissimmee and Mckey Streets. City
Manager explained this was in the budget for this year.
Mayor stated he had arranged a Town Meeting to be held Nov 1, 1975 at
7:30 p.m. at the Youth Center and each candidate will be allowed five minutes
and Lester Dabbs will be the M.C.
City Manager briefed council on FY 74/75 4th quarter final budget.
Jerry Weeks of W.H.Wurst Insurance Agency came before council explaining
the cost difference on different types of collision coverage. After much
I discussion council decided to keep the city's insurance in its present form.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
