HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-02-1976 MINUTES OF CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF THE CITY OF OCOEE HELD 2 NOVEMBER 1976 I Mayor Breeze called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Present were Commissioners Lyle, Stinnett, Whitehead and Crawford; City Manager, Vignetti; City Attorney, Rhodes; and City Clerk, Gann. APPROVAL OF 19 OCTOBER 76 MINUTES Minutes of 19 October 76 meeting were read. Comm. Whitehead moved to accept as read, seconded by Comm. Stinnett. Unanimous. 26 OCTOBER 76 ZONING BOARD MEETING MINUTES The Zoning Board minutes of the 26 October 76 meeting were read into the record for information only. ABSTRACT FOR OLD CITY HALL City Manager reported that the abstract of the old City Hall property could be brought up to date for a maximum cost of $150.00. Council had no object- ions. MONUMENT TO MISS LILLIAN MAGUIRE I City Manager state~ that the monument would be six (6) inches higher than the previous proposal and the cost would be $490.00 which includes cost of installation. Council will decide tomorrow where to place the monument. PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM - CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE STATION City Manager explained that a pre-application has been filed for $250,000.00 to construct a Fire Station. City Manager requested a work session for Thursday, 4 November 76 to discuss the aforementioned subject. REQUEST TO CLOSE KINDLING COURT IN FOXFIRE SUB. FOR CONSTRUCTION PHASE ONLY City Manager explained that Mr. Frisk (Homes In Partnership) had requested permission to close Kindling Court in Foxfire Subdivision for construction phase only. After much discussion Comm. Crawford moved to grant request provided they furnish the barricades and bear all expense, seconded by Comm. Lyle. Unanimous. CODIFICATION PROOFS City Manager explained that the codification proofs had been returned to Mvnicipal Code Corp. and it will take approximately six weeks for the codification to be completed. MULTI PERIL - LIABILITY AND CAR INSURANCE - CITY RECEIVING BIDS I City Manager explained that the Office Manager was contacting Insurance Companies and requesting bids on the aforementioned insurance coverage. Council stated that the companies contacted by phone also be sent a letter of request. CANVASSING BOARD MEETING City Manager stated that tomorrow at 12:00 noon there will be a meeting of the Canvassing Board to count the absentee ballots and canvass tonights -2- City election returns. The new Commissioners will also be sworn in at this time by the Mayor. I CITY AUDITORS City Manager stated that the City Auditors would finish up their work this Thursday. COMMISSIONER REPORTS Comm. Lyle moved that the city employees have the Friday after Thanksgiving off, seconded by Comm. Whitehead. Unanimous. DONATION REQUEST Doris Smith came before council on behalf of the West Orange High School Baseball Booster Club, requesting a donation to help defray the cost of new bleacher and fence for the baseball field. After much discussion Comm. Stinnett moved to donate $50.00, seconded by Comm. Crawford. Unanimous. AUDIENCE Mr. Wurst stated that on North Magnolia there was a dead palm tree that would possibly injure someone if it fell, Mr. Wurst also stated that there was the same situation on South Magnolia.
