AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, MAKING IT AN OFFENSE FOR ANY PERSON TO LIBEL OR SLANDER ANOTf.lER WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS; PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR. Be it ordained by tbe City Council of tbe City of Ocoee: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to picture, effigy, print, write, publish, circulate or distrib~te within tbe corporate limits of the City of Ocoee any newspaper, magazine, periodical, pamphlet or other publication of any character, either written or printed, wherein same contains a libel. concerning any person. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person within tbe corporate limits of the City of Ocoee to aid in any way in the circulating or distributing of any literature in the City of Oeoee in violation of Section 1 hereof. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the City of Ocoee to utter oral defamatory expressions, malicious gOSSip, scandal, slander or rumor concerning any person. Section 4. It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporape limits of tbe City of Ocoee to aid or permit any such oral defamatory expreSSions to be made in or upon any house or premises owned or possessed by him or her or under his or her management or control. Section 5. The wt:llrd "libel" or "slander" when used herein shall be deemed to be used in its broadest and most liberal sense. Section 6. Any person violating any of the proviSions of this ordin- ance shall upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in the City Jail for not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court. Section 7.1 Copies of this ordinance shall be posted as provided for by law and' the Charter of the City of Ocoee. Section 8. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor, or upon its otherwise becoming a law. Section 9. All ordinance and parts of ordiances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. Section 10. Should any portion of this ordinance be held invalid, then such portions as are not declared to be invalid shall remain in full force and effect.
