AN ORDINANCE PROVIDlNG FOO THE ADJUSTMENT OF
DELmQU'mT TAXES DUE T.I:iE CIT!. OF OCOEE, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, complaint has been made to the City Council of the

City of Oeoee, Florida, that an account of the unusual and
abnormal conditions' prevailing in the years 1926, 1927 and
1928, there are many pieces of property in the City that have

been assessed for taxation during said years as such high as~
seased values that the taxes now delinquent against said prop.-
erties are excessive, unreasonable and unjust, and in many of
the eases exceeding the present value of the property ; and
WHEREAS, it is apparent that such taxes cannot be collected
in many,~instance8, and sueh property will continue to remain
delinquent, and the best interests of the citizens and tax-
payers of the Oity of Ocoee requires that an opportunity be
given to adjust the delinquent taxes on a basis of fairness
and equality, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED By THE CITy COUNCIL OF THE CIT1 OF OCOEE :
Section 1.
That during the months of August, September,
October and November, 1930, the City Council of the City of
Ocoee will sit as a Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board, for the
purpose of considering and acting upon petitions of property
owners in the City who may petition the City Council for an
adjustment of delinquent tax~ for the year 1928 and prior years ;
that the City Coune11 will sit as such Delinquent Tax Adjust-
ment Board at the conclusion of each regular meeting of the
Council, and at any special or adjourned meeting which may be
held for that purpose.

That at any time prior to the regular meeting

any property owner, or person having an interest in property,

in the City of Ocoee, Florida, may file a petition to the
City Council requesting an adjustment of delinquent taxes for
the year 1928 and prior years ; such petitions need not be
in any particular form, but should state the total of the
taxes which are delinquent against the property, and should
state briefly the reasons why an adjustment is desired, and
such petitions may be filed with the City Clerk to be consider-
ed by the Council at its next meeting.
That all such petitions shall give the description of the
property upon which en adjustment is desired, and shall show
what interest the person making the application has iL the
property.
~ection 3. That at each meeting of the City Council held
during the months of August, September, October, and November,
1930, after the conclusion of other business, the City Council
shall sit as a Delinquent Tax Adjustment ,Board and shall con-
sider all petitions that may be before it at that time ; and
if, after consideration, the Council shall determine that the
delinquent taxes should be adjusted, the City Council shall
fix and determine what amount shall be paid by the applicant
in settlement of all delinquent taxes for the yee:r 1928 and
prior years against the property ; provided, however, that the
taxes for the year 1929 shall not be subject to adjustment,
but must be paid in full at the same time that payment is made
of such amount as the Council has determined shall be paid in
settlement of the delinquent taxes.
The applicant shall be notified of the decision of the City
Council, and shall have thirty days in which to make payment
of the adjusted amount and the taxes for 1929 ; in the event
that payment is not made before the end of thirty days from the
date of adjustment, the adjustment shall be null and void and
the taxes shall be and remain as they were before adjustment.

Each application for adjustment shall be con-
sidered separately, and on its merits, and if, after consider-
ation, the Council shall determine that no adjustments should
be made, the applicant shall be so advised and all delinquent
taxes shall remain as they were ; in those cases where adjust-
ments are made, the City Tax Oollector is authorized, upon re-
ceipt of payment of the adjusted amount and of the 1929 taxes
in full, to issue a receipt to the property owner for all the
taxes for the years for which adjustments are made.
The Tax Collector shall not make any change in his books
until after actual payment has been made, when he shall make
suvh notation on the records as shall show the payment of the
taxes at the amounts as fixed by the Council.
Section 5. This ordiaanca shall become effective upon its
passage and appr oval by the Mayor, and all ordinances and parts

of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, so far
as such conflict exists.
