ORDI~ANCE NO. 20
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR OF
BU ILD ING S IN THE TOWN OF 0 COEE .
Be it Ordained by the Council of the Town of Ocoee:
Section 1. No wall, structure, building or part thereof,
shall hereafter be built, equipped, altered, repaired or removed"
nor shall any work for which this ordinance is applicable, be '
done where the cost thereof exceeds Fifty ~ollars , unless there
shall be first filed with the Town Clerk a statement showing
location of proposed building, general description and size of
building, material to be used for walls and roof, total cost,
and such other information as may be required by Town Council;
and the said statement shall be approved by the Clerk before
any such work shall be commenced.
Section 2. Every building hereafter erected within the
corporaterlimits shall have a fire-resisting roof covering, and
no existing wooden shingle roof, if damaged ~cre than 10 per
cent. shall be renewed or repaired with other than fire-
resist ing roof covering; and no statement shall be approved by
the Clerk where the material to be 'used is not fire-resisting.
Section 3. Every building hereafter erected or enlarged
within the fpllowing described limits: Begin at the Dorner of
Floral Avenue and Bluford Avenue, run North along Bluford Avenue
to Oakland Avenue, thence Bast along Oakland Avenue to the ,
railroad, thence North along railroad 200 feet, thence West to I
Oakland-Winter Garden road, thence South to Floral Avenue, thenc~
East along Floral Avenue to beginning; shall be enclosed on all i
sides with walls oonstructed wholly of stone, well burned brick,i
terra cotta, concrete or other equiaalent inoombustible material~
and shall have the roof, top and sides of all roof struotures, I
including dormer windo~s, covered with fire-resisting material. !
All cornioes shall be of incombustible material. !

Section 4~ .he Clerk shall be governed in making approval:
of statements f~led with him by such ];nstructions and ~eglflation,
as the Town Council shall promulgate and set out by resolution '
or ordinance. '
Section 5. Any person, persons, firm or corporation who
shall make any false representations in the statement filed
with the Clerk shall be punished by fine not exceeding five
hundred dollars or by imprisonment not exceeding sixty da.ys.
Section 6. Where any false representation is made in
the statement of any firm or corporation, each member of the
firm and each officer of the corporation shall be deemed
guilty of making such false representa.tion, and upon
conviction shall be punished as provided by Section 5.

Section!. Any person, persons, firm or corporation
who shall build, oonstruct, alter or repair any buildings
before filing statement as herein provided for and obtaining
approval of same in accordance with this Ordinance shall
be punished by fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or
by impriBmnment not.exceeding sixty days.
Section 8. Any building which is constructed without
fire resisting roof as herein provided may be condemned by
the fown Council, thirty days notice being given to the OWner

in which thirty days the owner shall replace said roof with
a suitable fire-resisting material; and in case the owner
shall not have replaced said roof after thirty days notice
to him, then the Town may cause the said building to be torn
down and the cost assessed against said property. Any frame
br wooden building constructed within the limits specified
above may be condemned in like manner.
Section 9. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby
repealed.
