A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OCOEE SUPPORTING THE ELECTION OF GLENDA E. HOOD.
PRESIDENTt FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIESt COMMISSIONERt
CITY OF ORLANDO t TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES.
WHEREASt Orlando City Commissioner Glenda E. Hood has a distinguish-
ed career of public service as an elected official of the City of Orlando; and
WHEREASt Commissioner Glenda E. Hood is currently holding office as
President, Florida League of Cities and has served previously as the First Vice
President and on the Board of Directors of the Florida League of Cities; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hood has served on a myriad of community and
C1V1C organizations, and has been the recipient of many awards of excellence
and distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hood has made many contributions to the League
and its membership, including expansion of League services and programs; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hood recognizes the pervasive impact the
federal government has on local government and that municipalities must be in
a position to effectively influence national policy; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Hood will take an active role in vOlclng the
municipal position on major federal issues to ensure that the cities' interest
are protected in Washington; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors will be elected at the 1986 Congress
of Cities, San Antonio, Texas,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission of the City
of Ocoee, Florida supports Florida League of Cities' President, Commissioner
Glenda E. Hood, for election to the National League of Cities' Board of Direct-
ors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the
Nominating Committee and be available to the entire membership of the National
League of Cities.
